  • Publication number: 20200037145
Abstract: A method by a first node (101) for handling assistance data about a location of a second node (102) is described herein. The first and the second node (102) operate in a wireless communications network (100). The first node (101) determines (305) a first set of the assistance data to be provided to the second node (102) via unicast, and a second set of the assistance data to be provided via broadcast. The determining (301) is based on one or more characteristics of at least one of: the second node (102), the assistance data, the wireless communications network (100), and the radio coverage. The first node (101) then sends (307), to at least one of: the second node (102) and a third node (103) operating in the wireless communications network (100), the first set of the assistance data via unicast, and the second set of the assistance data via broadcast.

  • Publication number: 20200015188
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are provided for facilitating positioning based on signal correlation function characteristic feedback. In an embodiment, the method may involve steps performed by a network node in communication with a wireless communication device (WCD) and a plurality of base stations. The network node receives, from the WCD, location information including position reference signal (PRS) correlation function characteristics of a cross-correlation between a received downlink signal and a transmitted PRS for each base station from the plurality of base stations. The network node determines a position of the WCD using the PRS correlation function characteristics. The WCD may initiate the transmission of the PRS correlation function characteristics on its own, or in response to a request to do so from the network node.

  • Patent number: 10517122
Abstract: A radio network node (110) manages (A010) establishment of a current radio session between a user equipment (120) and the radio network node (110), wherein the current radio session is associated with a current set of characteristics relating to the radio network node (110) and/or the user equipment (120). During establishment of the current radio session, a core network node (130) retrieves (A080), based on the current set of characteristics, an indication about the MCS offset from a memory (141, 142) accessible by the core network node (130). Then, the core network node (130) sends (A090), to the radio network node (110), the indication about the MCS offset. The indication is derived from a previous radio session, wherein the previous radio session is associated with a previous set of the characteristics, wherein the previous set of the characteristics matches the current set of the characteristics.

  • Patent number: 10466066
Abstract: Techniques of altitude determination by user equipment (UE) in a mobile communications network are discussed. A request for calibration data is transmitted to a node of the network. Barometric calibration data is received at the UE. A barometric pressure sensor in the UE measures a barometric pressure value based on the barometric calibration data. Measuring the barometric pressure value using the barometric pressure sensor in an embodiment comprises adjusting a measured barometric pressure value that is measured using the barometric pressure sensor. The barometric pressure value is transmitted to the node. The UE receives a second part of the barometric calibration data, and in dependence of the second part of the barometric calibration data and/or in dependence of the measured barometric pressure value, determines an altitude of the user equipment.
