  • Patent number: 12283040
Abstract: A computer-implemented point-cloud data acquisitioning method for acquiring point-cloud data of the inside of a mining equipment. The method includes the step of acquiring from a sensor, a first dataset and a second dataset, wherein each dataset includes datapoints at coordinates. The method extracts features from the first and second dataset and aligns the first and second dataset using the extracted features. The first and second dataset are aligned into a point-cloud data. The geometry of the mining equipment is estimated based on the point-cloud data and the point-cloud data is used to identify a region of the estimated geometry indicating insufficient data.

  • Publication number: 20240248267
Abstract: A fiber-optic cable includes an optical fiber that transports a forward-propagating laser beam. The optical fiber includes a core, a cladding, and an output end-face emitting the forward-propagating beam. The fiber-optic cable also includes a mode-stripper, along a segment of the optical fiber, that couples out backward-propagating radiation that has been coupled into the cladding at the output end-face. The fiber-optic cable further includes a waveguide having a waveguide body with a bore containing at least part of the segment of the optical fiber. The bore is defined by an inward-facing surface that guides at least a fraction of the backward-propagating radiation, coupled out of the cladding by the mode-stripper, toward a rear opening of the bore farthest from the output end-face. Additionally, the fiber-optic cable includes one or more sensors or fiber ports that receive portions of the backward-propagating radiation emerging from the rear opening.

  • Publication number: 20230304097
Abstract: A likelihood of cancer relapse is estimated for a subject by introducing ex vivo a nucleic acid molecule comprising a reporter gene under transcriptional control of a SOX9p or of a promoter operatively linked to an enhancer element comprising at least one SOX9 binding site into cancer cells obtained from a tumor sample from a subject. The cancer cells are exposed ex vivo to a cancer treatment and the amount of SOX9+ cancer cells following cancer treatment is determined based on expression of the reporter gene. The likelihood of cancer relapse following cancer treatment for the subject is estimated based on the determined amount of SOX9+ cancer cells. A combination of a viral vector comprising a suicidal gene under transcription control of a SOX9p or of a promoter operatively linked to an enhancer element comprising at least one SOX9 binding site and a prodrug can be used in treatment of a subject suffering from a cancer disease.

  • Patent number: 10194254
Abstract: A bone conduction device utilizes discrete retention magnets to secure both a sound processor housing and a vibration actuator to a head of a recipient. Only an electrical lead connects the sound processor housing and the vibration actuator. As such, the sound processor housing and the vibration actuator are mechanically separated. This mechanical separation helps reduce or eliminate vibration transmission between the two components, thus reducing feedback caused by the vibrations.

  • Patent number: 9693088
Abstract: A rendering device dynamically varies how audio and visual information is rendered by a rendering device responsive to changes in distance between the rendering device and a mobile device carried by a user. As the user moves about, the distance between the rendering device and the mobile device carried by the user will vary. As the distance between the mobile device and the rendering device changes, the rendering system can dynamically adapt how the audio and visual information is rendered. For example, the rendering device can increase or decrease the volume of an audio output, depending on changes in the distance. Also, the rendering device can change how visual information is rendered on a display responsive to changes in distance. In some embodiments, when the distance between the mobile device and rendering device exceeds a predetermined distance, the audio and/or visual information may be sent to the mobile device.
