  • Patent number: 6820900
Abstract: The invention relates to a rear axle arrangement for a heavy vehicle, e.g. a freight vehicle. The vehicle incorporates a number of wheels which bear the vehicle and an elongate chassis element which extends in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The rear axle arrangement incorporates at least one separate rear axle unit which includes a loadbearing frame structure and two of said wheels. The frame structure extends between a first end region and a second end region in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and the first end region of the frame structure is designed to be connected to the elongate chassis element. In addition, the two wheels are suspended on the frame structure.

  • Patent number: 6817433
Abstract: Cab-over-engine freight vehicle with a driver's cab which is untiltable relative to the chassis and is situated above the vehicle's engine which is supported by the chassis. On each side of the vehicle there is a panel which is provided with steps, delineates the engine compartment laterally and is mounted pivotably on the chassis by means of a panel control arrangement which makes it possible to impart a displacement movement to the panel so that it swings outwards and rearwards in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle to an engine access position. Below the door of the driver's cab there is a cover which is hinged-mounted on the chassis and which in the closed position conceals the step panel situated inside it. The cab door and the cover below the door are detachably coupled with one another by a relative-motion absorbing control arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6786291
Abstract: A motor vehicle with a forward-mounted engine and a forward-situated air intake has a tubular chassis element running in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Between the air intake and the chassis element there is a guide arrangement for leading air into and through the chassis element past at least one major vehicle component, advantageously the vehicle's gearbox, situated inside the chassis element. Downstream from that major vehicle component there is an air outlet.

  • Patent number: 6736232
Abstract: The invention relates to a front axle arrangement for a heavy vehicle, e.g. a freight vehicle. The vehicle incorporates a number of wheels (42, 43) which bear the vehicle, and an engine unit (20) for the vehicle's propulsion and a longitudinal chassis element (6) which extends along the vehicle's longitudinal axis in the normal direction of forward movement of the vehicle. The front axle arrangement forms a separate front axle unit (11) incorporating a frame structure (12-15) which is intended to be connected to the longitudinal chassis element, and two of said wheels which are suspended in the frame structure. The front axle unit (11) is intended to bear the engine unit (20) in such a way that the latter extends in through a central aperture of the frame structure (12-15) and can at least partially be extracted from the front axle unit.

  • Patent number: 6641206
Abstract: A loadbearing structure for heavy vehicles, e.g. a freight vehicle, incorporates a box-shaped hollow unit (10) extending in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Wall elements (12, 14, 16, 18) of thin wall thickness are connected to one another to form the box-shaped unit (10). The invention provides a loadbearing structure (2) for heavy vehicles which is many times more rigid than conventional structures but is nevertheless of relatively low weight and is relatively easy and inexpensive to manufacture. The present invention also relates to a process for manufacturing a loadbearing structure for heavy vehicles.
