  • Publication number: 20160337227
Abstract: Different Out-of-sync thresholds are defined for Radio Link Monitoring by a UE having a selectively enabled advanced receiver feature. When the advanced receiver feature is disabled, the UE monitors received signal quality and compares a signal quality metric to a first threshold developed for a reference receiver. When the advanced receiver feature is enabled, the UE compares the signal quality metric to a second threshold indicating lower signal quality than the first threshold. In either case, if the signal quality meets the respective threshold, the UE goes Out-of-sync. The Out-of-sync UE continues to monitor received signal quality. Regardless of whether the advanced receiver feature is enabled or not, a third threshold, developed for the reference receiver, is applied to determine when to return to In-sync. In one embodiment, the reference receiver enables two antennas, and the advanced receiver feature is enabling four antennas.

  • Publication number: 20160277218
Abstract: In one aspect, a network node facilitates pilot sequence detection by a wireless device operating in a wireless communication network. The network node determines restriction information that indicates a reduction of a search space used by the wireless device for blind detection of pilot sequences from one or more interfering transmission points. Assistance data that includes the restriction information is generated. The assistance data is transmitted to the wireless device to reduce the search space used by the wireless device for the blind detection of pilot sequences according to the restriction information.

  • Patent number: 9432131
Abstract: There is provided a method of handling interference caused by inter-modulation in a network node. The method comprises detecting an interference level on an uplink carrier frequency band for stations, and determining whether the interference level indicates probable inter-modulation interference. If the interference level indicates probable inter-modulation interference, the method proceeds with scheduling an uplink transmission grant for at least one of the stations. The uplink transmission grant is valid for a first transmission time interval. The uplink transmission grant is transmitted to the station. A transmit level on the downlink carrier frequency band is assigned at the first transmission time interval such that inter-modulation interference is reduced on the uplink carrier frequency band at the first transmission time interval. An uplink transmission from the station is received at the first transmission time interval.

  • Publication number: 20160241375
Abstract: A method of a transceiver arranged to operate in a cellular communication system comprising cells is disclosed. The method comprises receiving a transmission from a first cell; determining an interfering signal and its occupation in time and/or frequency; determining reduced values in the received signal corresponding to the occupation in time and/or frequency of the interfering signal; and measuring a quotient between desired signal and non-desired signal of reference symbols of the received signal. A channel quality index, CQI, is formed taking into account reduction of values performed at the reducing, and the CQI is reported to the communication system. A transceiver and computer program for the same are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20160226709
Abstract: In MIMO wireless communication networks, receiver MIMO antenna parameters are not static over time. For example, the MIMO channel correlation is higher for high frequency bands than for low frequency bands. This variability of the receiver antenna parameters introduces uncertainty based the reported CSI (e.g., CQI, PMI, RI) if the network uses only static assumptions for such antenna parameter values. In embodiments, the UE determines the current status of its receive antenna parameters—such as number, configuration, correlation, and power imbalance—and transmits this information to the network (e.g., serving BS). The network node then based on the received information performs one or more radio operational tasks leading to more efficient use of radio resources and enhanced system performance.

  • Patent number: 9300373
Abstract: In a system using spatial precoding, in the event that reliable channel state information is unavailable, a transmitting node artificially creates a randomization of the precoders applied to the transmitted signal. Different precoding vectors are applied to both transmitted data and demodulation reference signals for each of several groups of time-frequency resources, where the precoding vectors vary randomly or pseudo-randomly from each group of time-frequency resources to the next frequency-adjacent group or groups, or to the next time-adjacent group or groups, or both. In an LTE system in particular, this randomization of precoders can be applied at the resource-block level or, at the level of the Precoding Resource block Group (PRG), for example. Thus, the precoders applied to the transmitted signal vary from one PRG to the next, in a random or pseudo-random fashion.

  • Patent number: 9179396
Abstract: A method for detecting an Almost-Blank Subframe (ABS) configuration for an interfering macro cell of a heterogeneous network is implemented in a wireless terminal. For one or more resource blocks in a received signal, a first power metric is calculated as a function of channel response estimates determined for predicted cell-specific (or common) reference signal (CRS) resource element locations in a plurality of symbols. For the one or more resource blocks in the received signal, a second power metric is calculated as a function of channel response estimates determined for the predicted CRS resource element locations in a single one of the plurality of symbols. A difference between the first and second power metrics is compared to a threshold, and responsive to the comparison a determination is made as to whether the macro cell is operating in a Multicast and Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) mode or a non-MBSFN mode.

  • Publication number: 20150207646
Abstract: There is provided a method of estimating channel spread at a receiver of a user equipment, UE, for one antenna port of a network node. The method is performed in the UE. The method comprises acquiring channel estimates for one antenna port of a network node. • Patent number: 9042336
Abstract: In a system using spatial precoding, in the event that reliable channel state information is unavailable, a transmitting node uses an extended transmission mode, in which the precoders applied to data within each of several groups of time-frequency resources vary according to frequency. The extended transmission mode creates a frequency-selective variation in precoders, which may appear to be random, while using DMRS-based transmission. This variation is achieved by applying different precoders to the resource elements carrying data, using a pattern of precoder variation that is known to the receiving device. The precoding applied to DMRS within a given group of time-frequency resources is held constant—thus, the varying precoders within a given group of time-frequency resources are only applied to data elements, not to the DMRS resource elements.
