  • Publication number: 20200280192
Abstract: An electric power plant includes at least one electric machine operable as a generator when rotated by a piston engine. The electric power plant includes a control system for interrupting the fuel supply of the piston engine in response to a need to interrupt power supply from the electric machine, and for reactivating the fuel supply in response to a need to reactivate the power supply. The control system is configured to keep the electric machine connected to voltage when the fuel supply of the piston engine is interrupted so as to operate the electric machine as an electric motor for rotating the piston engine. As the electric machine and the piston engine are rotating when the power supply from the electric machine is interrupted, the reactivation of the power supply can be fast.

  • Patent number: 10072599
Abstract: An internal combustion engine uses gaseous main fuel and liquid pilot fuel and has a plurality of cylinders and an engine controller capable of adjusting a burning state of each cylinder through fuel regulation, including fuel cut off, upon occurrence of abnormal combustion. A method of operating the internal combustion engine includes, upon occurrence of abnormal combustion in a cylinder in a gaseous mode, cutting off the main fuel into only the cylinder and the fuel injection is kept partially active with a pilot fuel injected by a pilot nozzle of the cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20150142329
Abstract: A portable data processing system includes a memory system, a processing system and a reception system for receiving data from acceleration sensors indicating test subject's acceleration in three orthogonal directions plus orientation of the acceleration sensors. The memory system includes routines for 1) determining instantaneous vertical, longitudinal and lateral accelerations from the received acceleration sensor data; 2) identifying periodicity in one of the instantaneous accelerations and using the periodicity with the instantaneous accelerations to determine dynamic movement parameters related to movement over ground, separately for both legs; 3) using a vertical energy loss and brake energy loss to determine a combined energy loss; and 4) outputting an indication of the combined energy loss and/or correction instructions.

  • Publication number: 20130144511
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating an internal combustion engine using liquid pilot fuel, which engine (2) has a plurality of cylinders (3) and engine controller (10) capable of adjusting a burning state of each cylinder through fuel regulation (100), including fuel cut-off, upon occurrence of abnormal combustion. Upon occurrence of abnormal combustion in a cylinder (3) the fuel injection is kept partially active with a pilot fuel injected (200) by pilot nozzle (31) of said cylinder (3).

  • Patent number: 7926329
Abstract: The invention utilizes the firing order of the cylinders within the engine to identify the cylinder or cylinders that mainly contribute or, alternatively, contribute as little as possible to the production of certain harmonic frequencies in the engine's torque. In order to use the engine's torque for this purpose, the calculation of torque must take into account the non-linearities of the engine system. Thus the calculation of torque takes into account not only the properties of the engine but also the properties of the load and the shaft.

  • Patent number: 7743748
Abstract: A method for controlling the operation of a solenoid (14), in which solenoid the movement of the plunger is caused by bringing electric energy to the solenoid, whereby an electric current flows through the solenoid, the method comprising the following steps. defining a model (6) for describing the current signal of the solenoid at certain time intervals from the activation moment of the solenoid onwards, measuring the true current signal (7) of the solenoid at time intervals corresponding with the model, defining a residual signal (8), which is the remainder between the signal of the model (6) and the true current signal (7), and performing a threshold analysis (25) for the residual signal.
