    Abstract: Compositions and methods for wound treatment. Compositions may be formulated as a dry powder. Compositions may include an antibiotic and a metal-containing species. Each of the antibiotic and the metal-containing species may positively modulate wound bed and peri-lesional cellular processes supportive of healing. Methods may include a two-step protocol. The first protocol step may be spreading upon a wound surface an emollient-rich mixture of low-and high-molecular weight (MW) non-water-soluble ingredients of an anti-microbial ointment, forming an occlusive cover over the wound. The second protocol step may be to apply the compositions onto the cover. Low-MW emollients may migrate into, and solubilize components of, the dry powder. The solubilized components and the low-MW emollients may transport below the cover to the wound bed to facilitate effective wound healing. Initial testing and use studies have yielded good wound closures, with minimal-to-no scarring and high regain of function of repaired tissues.
