Abstract: A medical device for insertion into a natural or artificial body opening, such as a urinary catheter is described. The medical device comprises a substrate having a wall enclosing an internal cavity that forms a tubular body. The wall extends between a proximal insertion end and a distal rearward end. The wall comprises at least 30 wt % of natural fibers, such as cellulose fibers. One example medical device is, at least to a large extent, made of paper.

Abstract: A medical device assembly comprises a medical device, such as a urinary catheter, comprising an insertable part and a non-insertable part. The insertable part comprises an elongate shaft provided with a hydrophilic coating or surface. The assembly further comprises a wetting fluid compartment arranged to encircle at least a part of the medical device, and preferably at least a part of the non-insertable part, and an aqueous fluid arranged in the wetting fluid compartment. At least one of the aqueous fluid and the hydrophilic coating or surface comprises at least one surfactant. The hydrophilic coating or surface is maintained essentially separated from the aqueous fluid, and arranged to become wetted by movement of the elongate shaft through the wetting fluid compartment.

Abstract: An extension tube for a urinary catheter comprises a tubular body with an inlet opening, an outlet opening and an internal lumen extending between the inlet opening and the opening. The tubular body comprising at least a first layer, which first layer includes natural and/or regenerated cellulose fibers, and preferably to a large extent, such as at least 40 wt %.
