  • Patent number: 5416141
Abstract: Halogen-containing synthetic resins can be stabilized with calcium and/or zinc soaps. Co-stabilizers are necessary for enhancing their stabilizing effect. The invention relates to special cationic layered hydrotalcite compounds having a specific BET surface of at least 50 m.sup.2 /g which are modified with polyols, epoxidized esters, full and partial esters of polyols and/or phosphites, to a process for their production and to their use as co-stabilizers for halogen-containing synthetic resins stabilized with calcium and/or zinc salts.

  • Patent number: 5248333
Abstract: Mixtures of light colored bis(C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 fatty acid) alkylene diamides, C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 fatty acid esters, and, if desired, metal soaps of C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 fatty acids can be obtained if, in a melt containing fatty acids with 8 to 22 carbon atoms, a part of the fatty acids are condensed to the corresponding fatty acid diamides with diamines of the general formula NH.sub.2 --R--NH.sub.2, in which R is a straight chain, branched, or cyclic alkylene group with 2 to 12 carbon atoms; a part of the fatty acids are esterified with fatty alcohols with 8 to 22 carbon atoms and/or multifunctional alkanols with 2 to 15 carbon atoms and 2 to 6 hydroxyl groups; and, if desired, a part of the fatty acids are converted to the corresponding metal soaps with basic compounds of divalent metals. The condensation with the diamines is carried out before the esterification of the fatty acids with fatty alcohols and/or multifunctional alkanols. The mixtures so obtained can be used as additives in plastics.

  • Patent number: 5232967
Abstract: Mixed esters comprising the reaction product ofa) an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic and/or aromatic C.sub.2 -C.sub.22 -dicarboxylic acid containing up to 2 hydroxyl groups, or a mixture thereof;b) an aliphatic polyol containing from 3 to 6 hydroxyl groups or a mixture thereof; andc) an aliphatic C.sub.2 -C.sub.32 -monocarboxylic acid containing up to 2 hydroxyl groups, or a mixture thereof;wherein the molar ratio of components a) and b) is approximately n-1:n, wherein n is an integer of from 6 to 15, and component c) is selected so that at least one free hydroxyl group is present per molecule of the mixed ester, are useful as lubricants for the molding of thermoplastic plastics, especially polyvinyl chloride homopolymers or copolymers.

  • Patent number: 4962145
Abstract: Partial esters of saturated, linear C.sub.22 -C.sub.34 -monocarboxylic acids with polyols containing at least 3 carbon atoms and at least 2 hydroxyl groups are provided. The partial esters contain on average at least 1 free hydroxyl group and are generally obtained as mixtures of partial esters of at least 2 of said C.sub.22 -C.sub.34 -monocaroxylic acids. Particularly contemplated are partial esters based on montanic acids. The partial esters exhibit excellent release effects and transparency properties when used as release agents for plastics based on PVC or PVC copolymers.
