  • Patent number: 5867974
Abstract: In the case of an opening device for an open-end spinning machine, the rotating opening roller is arranged in a housing with a prevailing vacuum and has one front side which is exposed to the free atmosphere. In the area of this front side the opening roller is sealed off against the housing by means of a labyrinth seal. The labyrinth seal starts in the area of a peripheral combing structure of the opening roller with a first sealing gap and ends with a second sealing gap in the free atmosphere. The sealing gaps are formed by cylindrical collar surfaces of the opening roller and corresponding hollow cylindrical countersurfaces of the housing. In addition, the collar surfaces are provided with fly repulsing notches, whose direction of effect is such that the fly is repulsed at the first sealing gap towards the combing structure and at the second sealing gap, repulsed towards the free atmosphere. The front side of the open roller exposed to the free atmosphere is not covered by a lid.

  • Patent number: 5768880
Abstract: An opening roller for an open-end spinning device comprises a shaft supported in a bearing housing. A base body is arranged on the shaft, on which base body an exchangeable ring with combing structure is slidably arranged . The ring with combing structure is fixed at its end faces between a flange of the base body and a flange of a detachably applied tension disc. In order to brace the tension disc against the ring with combing structure by means of a spring element, a screw is axially screwed into the shaft, which screw is provided with working surfaces for a tool for pulling the opening roller out of a holding device of the bearing housing. The working surfaces are located at the end of a through bore hole of the screw on the side facing away from the head of the screw. The tension disc has an even outer front surface, which is partly formed by a covering cap, which comprises, in extension of the through bore hole, a small bore hole for inserting the tool.

  • Patent number: 5749216
Abstract: In the case of an open-end spinning arrangement, a spinning rotor is arranged in a rotor housing, to which a vacuum of at least 500 mm water column is applied. A fibre feed channel, beginning at an opening roller with an entry opening, is directed with an outlet opening at a sliding wall of the spinning rotor. The fibre feed channel bends slightly in the direction towards a fibre collecting groove of the spinning rotor. The cross sectional area of the outlet opening of the fibre feed channel measures at least 19 mm.sup.2 and amounts to at least 30% of the cross sectional area of the entry opening. As a result of the bend in the fibre feed channel, the fibres are collected together in a fibre bundle on a longitudinal side of the fibre feed channel. The fibre bundle occupies only a part area of the outlet opening when leaving the fibre feed channel and is fed with high precision onto the sliding wall. The outlet opening can thus have larger dimensions without this leading to inaccurate feeding of the fibres.

  • Patent number: 5689946
Abstract: An opening roller for an open-end spinning arrangement is provided with a combing ring, which is slidably mounted onto a base body and is supported between two clamping surfaces. In order to fix the combing ring radially to a cylindrical guiding surface of the base body, the combing ring is provided with a centering surface on its inner circumferential surface. The combing ring has stopping surfaces on its end sides, which are arranged to engage the clamping surfaces. The centering surface is limited to an end area of the inner circumferential surface. The part of the inner circumferential surface of the combing ring which is located outside of this end area is free from counter-surfaces of the base body. As a result of this arrangement, the seat-engaging surfaces are on the one hand very short, while on the other hand various embodiments of combing rings can be used.

  • Patent number: 5321943
Abstract: A yarn withdrawal nozzle is provided for an open-end spinning arrangement, the essentially funnel-shaped contact surface of which consists of a material which, in a temperature range of approximately 50.degree. C. to approximately 100.degree. C., has a thermal conductivity of at least 80 W/mK (Watts per meter Kelvin) so that as a result damage to synthetic fibers caused by overheating is avoided also in the case of relatively high rotational rotor speeds.

  • Patent number: 4703616
Abstract: A bearing and driving assembly is disclosed for an open and spinning rotor unit of a spinning unit of the type having a rotor mounted on a rotor shaft, a twin disk bearing arrangement for rotatably supporting the rotor shaft and a tangential belt drivingly engaging the rotor shaft. A tension roller is loaded against the tangential belt. To minimize failures of such a system caused by a resonant system vibrations and to facilitate high spinning speeds with minimal manufacturing expenses, the supporting disk pairs are axially spaced a distance slightly larger than the axial width of the tension roller. Brake members are disposed below the tangential belt so as to be applied with substantially horizontal movement radially against the rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4667464
Abstract: A bearing and driving assembly is disclosed for an open end spinning rotor at a spinning unit of the type having a rotor mounted on a rotor shaft, a twin disk bearing arrangement for rotatably supporting the rotor shaft and a tangential belt drivingly engaging the rotor shaft of the radial side thereof opposite the twin dusk arrangement. To minimize failures of such a system caused by resonant system vibrations and to facilitate high spinning speeds with minimal manufacturing expenses, the assembly is designed so that the system critical velocity where excessive resonant vibrations may occur is substantially lower than spinning operational speeds.
