  • Patent number: 4848128
Abstract: A roll stand has a stationary frame having a drive side and a service side, upper and lower working rolls having axially opposite ends at the sides, respective pairs of upper and lower journal blocks coupled with the ends of the rolls at the sides and a drive connected to the working-roll ends at the drive side for oppositely rotating the working rolls. Respective upper and lower pusher bodies are provided adjacent the journal blocks in the frame and respective upper and lower guides in the frame support the bodies for displacement of same only axially in the frame. Respective pairs of formations at least one of which is vertically elongated couple each of the bodies to the respective block for joint axial displacement while permitting relative vertical nonaxial displacement between the bodies and the respective blocks.

  • Patent number: 4803865
Abstract: The stand-supported bending device for the axially slidable rolls of a rolling mill comprises at least one bending cylinder whose piston acts on a mount of a slidable roll provided with an intermediate piece guided tilt-free in a supporting block covering one or more of the pistons. The intermediate piece is provided with a mount facing planar pressing surface. Since the opposing pressing surface is located on the mount, e.g. on laterally extending engaging lugs of the mount, symmetric to the transverse central plane of a radial bearing of the mount, the bending force acts continuously on this mount in this central plane whose lateral relative position the mount of the axially slidable rolls may take relative to the bending device. The tilt-free guiding which absorbs the tilting torque or moment of the intermediate piece can be improved by a mechanical or hydraulic synchronizing device. Then the pistons are no longer exposed to transverse forces due to the axial sliding of rolls and/or their mounts.

  • Patent number: 4308945
Abstract: An apparatus for conveying profiled rods or rails in a direction transverse to their length, particularly from a rollerway to a cooling bed which comprises a plurality of adjacent carriages for conveying a profiled rod or rail and displaceable along said direction of conveyance is described. Each carriage has connected thereto a cable or chain moveable by a respective cable drum or chain wheels. The cable drums or chain wheels of the carriages are driven by a common drive means for effecting simultaneous displacement of all said carriages, and individual displacement means associated with each carriage effects stepless individual displacement of each carriage independently of the rotary position of its associated cable drum or chain wheel. The apparatus is able to cope with curved or obliquely disposed rods or rails.

  • Patent number: 4040514
Abstract: A lifting beam cooling and conveying bed has the lifting beams subdivided transversely across the conveyor and joined by articulated joints. The divided parts of the lifting beams are supported on profiled tracks which run on rollers. As the lifting beams travel in the conveying direction, they are raised or lowered according to the profile of their respective tracks, and the divided parts all have different sequences of vertical movements.
