  • Patent number: 6516126
Abstract: A cable wherein the sheathing contains at least two polymers, the adhesion capability of which is low when extruded in layers on to each other, and the sheathing has at least two adjacent layers, with the polymeric material of one layer being exclusively or predominantly the first polymer and the second layer including a mixture of both polymers.

  • Patent number: 6429246
Abstract: A nonflammable, halogen-free mixture for making thermoplastic polymer materials with increased heat resistance, particularly for manufacturing electrical and optical cables and lines. The mixture comprises: a block or randon block copolymer of polypropylene; a salt of a metal selected from the group consisting of Group II, IIa and IIb metals; a metal hydroxide; a silicone material-selected from the group silicone oil, silicone rubber, and combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 4927570
Abstract: Method for manufacturing an improved optical cable comprised of a cable core including optical fibers. The method includes the steps of continuously drawing a cable core through a sheathing station that forms a sheath of halogen free, low flammability material of high density about the cable core; continuously drawing the sheathed cable core through a jacketing station that forms a jacket of halogen free, low flammability, cross-linkable plastic material about the sheath; and continuously drawing the sheated and jacketed cable core through a high radiation source that causes a cross-linking of the jacket material, while the sheath prevents any radiation from penetrating the optical fibers of the cable core.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 20, 1988
Date of Patent: May 22, 1990
    Assignee: Kabelmetal Electro GmbH
