    Abstract: A process and device for an open-loop control and a closed loop control of the brake system of a vehicle, wherein brake pedal actuation is measured by at least two, preferably diversitary, measuring devices, and the driver's braking command is independently obtained and further processed from at least two actuation signals. A third measuring device, measuring brake pedal actuation, is provided for locating errors. The control device effecting the open-loop control and the closed-loop control of the brake system comprises at least two microcomputers with the signals of the at least two measuring devices being supplied to both, while the signal of the monitoring device is only supplied to one microcomputer.

    Abstract: A central control module generates nominal values for braking based on a pedal input value form a pedal sensor which detects actuation of the brake pedal by the driver, and sensor signals representing wheel speeds. First and second brake control modules transmit sensor signals to the central module, receive nominal values from the central module, and transmit nominal values to the actuators. The first brake control module receives the pedal input value from the pedal sensor directly, and calculates the nominal values as a function of the pedal input value when the central module has failed.

    Abstract: A disk brake having an electromagnetic friction clutch that can be brought into controllable frictional engagement with a brake disk. The friction clutch can act on a device for generating hydraulic pressure independent of the direction of rotation, and this pressure can act upon a clamping device for operating friction linings. To press the friction linings against the brake disk, energy is taken from the rotating vehicle wheel by means of the friction clutch and metered to the clamping device with pressure fluid as the energy carrier. The friction brake can be used in passenger cars, for example.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to an control system for a motor vehicle and includes: a plurality of control elements coacting for carrying out control tasks with reference to engine power, drive power and braking operation, respectively, and a plurality of coordinating elements for coordinating the coaction of the first elements to effect a control of operating performance of the motor vehicle in correspondence to a request of the driver. The elements are arranged in the form of a plurality of hierarchial levels. At least one of the coordinating elements of one of the hierarchial levels is adapted for acting on the elements of an adjacent hierarchial level when translating the request of the driver into a corresponding operating performance of the motor vehicle thereby acting on a pregiven subordinate system of the driver-vehicle system while providing the performance required from the higher hierarchial level for this subordinate system.
