  • Patent number: 7677981
Abstract: A sealed joint assembly includes an outer joint part (3) with outer ball tracks (9), an inner joint part (4) with inner ball tracks (10), torque transmitting balls (6) which are guided in pairs of tracks and held in a cage (7) with cage windows (8). A sleeve (16) is connected to the inner joint part (4) and is coaxially arranged thereto. A sealing mechanism (12) with an annular cap (13) is fixed to the outer joint part (3) and includes a sealing diaphragm (15) with an outer collar (18) connected to the annular cap (13) and an inner collar (19) sealingly connected to the sleeve (16). A securing ring (20) fixes the inner collar (19) on the sleeve (16). The sleeve (16) has an annular groove (33) which is engaged by the sealing diaphragm (15) by an inner annular bead (32) formed on the inner collar (19).

  • Patent number: 6319133
Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint for transmitting torque, having an outer joint part with outer ball tracks, an inner joint part with inner ball tracks, torque transmitting balls guided by pairs of outer and inner ball tracks positioned in corresponding meridian planes, and a ball cage which receives the balls in circumferentially distributed windows and holds same in a common plane and guides same on to the angle-bisecting plane when the joint is ariculated, with the center lines of the outer and inner ball tracks being composed of at least two differently curved portions adjoining one another, with the center lines of the ball tracks of the outer joint part each comprising convexly curved inner portions and, towards the open end, concavely curved end portions.

  • Patent number: 6299544
Abstract: A constant velocity ball joint having an outer joint part with an inner cylindrical guiding face provided with first, longitudinally extending ball grooves; an inner joint part with a convex guiding face provided with second, longitudinally extended ball grooves; and torque transmitting balls which run in the first and second ball grooves. The balls are held by an annular ball cage in a ball center plane (E). The ball cage comprises an outer spherical control face whose greatest diameter is axially removed in a first direction by a distance (x) from the ball center plane (E) and wherein the ball cage comprises an inner concave control face whose greatest diameter is axially removed in a second direction by a distance (x) from the ball center plane (E). The inner control face in the ball cage forms end stops for delimiting an axial displacement path of the inner joint part relative to the ball cage.

  • Patent number: 5660494
Abstract: A connection for transmitting torque between an internally toothed hub and an externally toothed shaft insertable into the hub has internal hub teeth and shaft teeth which are provided with different tooth flank profiles. The tooth flanks of the shaft teeth rest against the tooth flanks of the internal teeth on the pitch circle diameter D.sub.T. Thus, off the pitch circle diameter a clearance exists between the tooth flanks and the circumferential direction. The shaft teeth at its end directed towards the shaft shank, include a run-out region with a tooth height h.sub.Z decreasing as a function of the axial direction. The run/out region of the shaft teeth is substantially positioned within the internal hub teeth with respect to both their axial extensions.

  • Patent number: 5376049
Abstract: A tripod joint has an outer joint component having three circumferentially distributed recesses with parallel axes forming circumferentially opposing tracks. An inner joint component has a spider-shape cross-section with three circumferentially distributed arms which engage recesses of the outer joint component. The arms support roller assemblies. Each roller assembly includes a roller-carrier and a roller that runs directly on the tracks. The roller is arranged to slide axially along the arm axis and swivel with angular movement relative to the arm axis. A support is provided between the roller assembly and the outer joint component. The support absorbs tilting moments exerted on the roller assembly about an axis parallel to the joint axis and tilting moments exerted on the roller assembly about an axis perpendicular to, and spaced from, the joint axis.

  • Patent number: RE36163
Abstract: A tripod joint has an outer joint part with three circumferentially distributed, axis-parallel recesses forming circumferentially distributed opposed tracks. An inner joint part has a star-shaped cross-section and three circumferentially distributed arms engaging the recesses in the outer joint part. The arms support roller assemblies. When torque is transmitted with the joint in an extended position, the resultant K.sub.1 of the forces acting from the inner joint part directly on a roller forms a shorter perpendicular distance from the joint axis than the resultant K.sub.2 of the counter forces acting from the outer joint part on the roller, so that, when torque is introduced into the joint, at any angle of articulation of the operating range, the roller is subject to a tilting moment.
