  • Patent number: 5137557
Abstract: A suction air filter for a combustion engine includes a filter housing for receiving a filter insert and an attachment housing to which the filter housing is attached. The filter housing has a coupling end for coupling with a corresponding coupling end of the attachment housing. The suction air filter has an unfiltered air intake and a pure air outlet. A plurality of cam members are mounted on the outside of the filter housing near the coupling end thereof, and a plurality of cam elements are mounted on the outside of the attachment housing near the coupling end thereof. A rotatable coupling ring is mounted to receive the coupling ends of the filter housing and the attachment housing, and the coupling ring carries wedge members which are engagable with the cam members and the cam elements to releasably couple together the coupling ends of the housings.

  • Patent number: 4836406
Abstract: A closure for a pressurized container, such as a coolant radiator, provides overflow protection by means of a tube connecting the highest point of the container with the filler neck. The end of the tube in the filler neck is closed by a cap having a high pressure relief valve. The closure cap also contains a low pressure relief valve connected to the tube which, together with the high pressure relief valve, maintains a pressure balance in the container without substantial change in the amount of fluid therein. Both valves are connected directly to a bleed line to atmosphere or a reservoir. The tube and filler neck together serve to regulate the pressure in the container and to provide a maximum fluid level within the container.

  • Patent number: 4805264
Abstract: A suspension mechanism is provided for a hinged part, such as the engine hood of an agricultural tractor. The top of the engine hood is pivoted on an axle via a forked bearing. A follower on the bottom of the engine hood is guided in a track on the vehicle tractor frame. A support strut is provided at the front end of the hood. So long as the support strut is attached, the hood can pivot about the axle and the follower will move in the guide track on the frame, but the hood cannot be removed because the follower cannot leave the track. To remove the engine hood, the support strut is detached from the hood. The follower then can pivot entirely free of the track and the hood can simply be lifted off of the axle support. The support strut preferably is an outwardly biased pre-loaded gas pressurized spring reaching its shortest length somewhere between the open and closed positions of the hood. The spring then will bias the hood towards its open and closed positions.

  • Patent number: 4645221
Abstract: A container such as a fuel tank pivotally mounted on a vehicle for movement between an operation position adjacent the vehicle and an assembly position remote from said vehicle. The pivotal movement is accomplished by having a support for the container threadably engaged with a screw spindle supported on the vehicle. The support can swing about the screw spindle and also be moved vertically along the axis of the screw spindle by rotating said screw spindle. The vertical movement serves to bring the container in or out of mesh with a lock mechanism which avoids a further pivot movement in the operation position.
