  • Patent number: 5598649
Abstract: A laundry mangle has at least one mangling roller held in a working position inside a heatable trough by at least one carrying arm. The mangle roller and the trough are held in relative moveable positions by at least one adjusting member, delimiting together the inlet and outlet sides of a passage for laundry pieces. The adjusting member allows a force to be exerted on the mangling roller and/or trough that counteracts the frictional force generated during operation of the mangle, so that a constant or increasing ironing pressure towards the outlet side is set. The frictional force (R) generated during mangling is thus compensated, so that a gentle, wear-free mangling process is achieved. In addition, the mangling capacity is increased, compared with known mangles.

  • Patent number: 5564292
Abstract: A washing machine has at least one drum arranged to rotate about a spindle and bearings to absorb the axial and radial forces occurring when the drum is rotated. At least part of the bearings has a swivel with at least one roller and a tipping system to give a tipping movement transverse to the axis about which the swivel turns, or the swivel has an additional roller. The axis of rotation of the additional roller is transverse to that of the other roller of the swivel. Additional forces caused by wobbling of the washing machine drum during its movement are safely and easily absorbed so that the useful life of the bearing system is substantially increased. Time-consuming and costly maintenance work is unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 5025645
Abstract: In order to improve the mounting of the drums 15 in drum-type washing machines, a bearing ring 31 which is at least partially exchangeable through an opening in the housing 13 of the washing machine is arranged between the cylindrical bearing connection piece 29 of the drum 15 and a bearing shell 26 fixed on the housing.

  • Patent number: 5001911
Abstract: A ram-type press expresses liquid from material being pressed, particularly from a batch of wet textile materials. A press ram can be moved onto the material being pressed by the action of a pressure cylinder. A cylindrical shell, accommodating the material being pressed, can be closed at its bottom by a perforated thrust plate. The materials to be pressed and the press ram can be introduced one after the other from above into the cylindrical shell. The press ram is connected to an edge of an opening of a pot-shaped elastically yielding cushioning member and includes a union which can be connected to a water main in order to introduce water into the cushioning member. The bottom of this cushioning member forms a membrane which can be pressed against the material from which the liquid is to be expressed.

  • Patent number: 4955214
Abstract: During assembly of a ram press for pressing liquid out of material being pressed, centering of the shell 19 which serves as wash basket with the axis of the press ram which engages the shell 19 is simplified by the shell 19 being horizontally movable with two degrees of freedom by being connected for pivotal motion about a second vertical axis 26 to the free end of an arm 25 which is pivotable about a first vertical axies 24'.

  • Patent number: 4949477
Abstract: For controlling the quantities of supply, waste and recycled air which can be transported by means of a blower (36) for the drying process in a drier (10), this latter comprises a cohesive valve space (38) in which two valve flaps (40 and 42) can be pivoted by a drive. According to the position which the two valve flaps occupy, so the quantities of air supplied and carried away through the apertures (54, 62, 70, 74, 76, 80) in the valve chamber (38) for the drying process are controlled. A third valve flap (44) which can be triggered by a drive controls the process of blowing the washing out of the drier drum (16) after drying. For the sound and heat insulation of the drier (10), a housing (150) in two halves (152 and 154) which covers the blower (36) and the heat exchanger (34) is provided over the valve space.

  • Patent number: 4599814
Abstract: In the case of common trough mangles (1) used for the smoothing and drying of wet laundry pieces (11) wherein the hollow rollers (2) provided with roller wrappings (3) are only partially surrounded by heated pressing troughs (4, 5), a considerable amount of energy is wasted due to the absorption of cooler room air. In order to eliminate the cause of this deficiency, the invention proposes to cover the free area of the hollow roller (2) with a hood (6), whose rims (9) are sealed against the roller wrapping (3). The exhaust (8) of the steam is removed directly from the hood (6). This way, inside the hood (6) clean saturated steam is obtained and superheated, when the absorption from the hood (6) takes place in counterflow with regard to the travel of the laundry pieces (11). This superheated saturated steam is especially suitable as operating means for washing machines or the like.

  • Patent number: 4283868
Abstract: An ironing mangle has an ironing roller having a generally cylindrical outer surface and rotatable about a roller axis in a predetermined rotational sense. A two-part sleeve substantially completely surrounds this roller and has a cylindrical inner surface juxtaposed with and spaced radially outwardly from the outer surface of the roller. This sleeve is formed with axially extending and angularly spaced intake and output slots subdividing it into an angularly large main part and an angularly small minor part. The main part is heated and is of thermally conductive material whereas the minor part is of insulating material. At least one inflatable cushion lies on the outer surface and is pressurizable to press items to be ironed against the inner surface of the main part of the sleeves as the arrangement is rotated. The main part has an angular dimension of more than 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4128953
Abstract: An ironing mangle has a generally cylindrical and tubular roller received within a generally cylindrical tube that surrounds it through more than 270.degree.. A plurality of cushions or bags is secured to the outer surface of the roller, the bags being angularly offset and angularly overlapping each other. These bags can be pneumatically pressurized to force items being ironed against the inner surface of the sleeve. A cover sheet extending circumferentially completely around the roller is secured to the roller at its leading edge underneath one of the bags and is gas-pervious. Similarly the bags are provided with tubular throughgoing fittings that allow gas passage through the bags without depressurization of them, while the surfaces of these bags are formed with a plurality of bumps and the roller has throughgoing holes that allow the interior of the roller to be depressurized to draw off steam generated during ironing.
