  • Patent number: 6662727
Abstract: According to the invention, in order to be able to design a gas generator, in particular, for belt tighteners, with a slim housing (1), the electrical coupling is brought about via connection wires (4), pins or cables (4a) which are introduced into the housing (1) via a stopper (5) and are sealed by the latter. The stopper (5) is surrounded sealingly by the housing (1) itself or a holder element (6) sealingly connected to the housing.

  • Patent number: 6655289
Abstract: The invention relates to trigger units for initiating pyrotechnic elements which usually consist of a switch and control unit, ignition means and an ignition charge body. Said switch and control element is triggered by way of an electric coupling via a line in order to initiate ignition. The line for the electric coupling and the dimensions of the switch and control element which are usually accommodated in an IC housing complicate the design and the automatic assembly of the trigger units. According to the invention, the switch and control element (1) is surrounded by a first shell (2). Said first shell (2) is connected to a second shell (1) which contains the ignition charge body (23). The invention is further characterized in that the ignition means (19) dip into said second shell (21).

  • Patent number: 4769734
Abstract: A safety circuit for an electric detonator element connected to two electrical leads and having a subsequently arranged detonable charge. The safety circuit includes an electrical component connected in parallel to the detonator element between the two leads, the electrical component having an initial condition wherein the electrical component is at least substantially electrically non-conductive. The electrical component is responsive to a signal having a voltage value above a maximum ignition voltage value for enabling triggering of a detonator element for being converted from the initial condition thereof to a final condition wherein the electrical component provides a short circuit path in parallel to the detonator element so as to prevent improper initiation of the electrical detonator element.

  • Patent number: 4730558
Abstract: An electronic delayed-action explosive detonator comprising a tubular case, a capacitor chargeable by pulses from a blasting machine, an integrated circuit for processing pulses from the blasting machine to set a delay time, the integrated circuit controlling the elapse of the delay time after the delay time has been set, a primer to which current is supplied upon elapse of the delay time for enabling detonation, and detonator wires extending from the tubular case for enabling connection of the blasting machine to at least one of the capacitor and integrated circuit. A supporting plate arrangement for carrying the integrated circuit is disposed in series with the capacitor within the tubular case. The supporting plate has a first contact area with connecting pads for enabling attachment of leads of the capacitor, and a second contact area with connecting pads for enabling attachment of the detonator wires which are within the tubular case and extend outwardly therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4730236
Abstract: In order to avoid embedding a sensitive component in a resinous potting material, as usual, a prefabricated protective housing is used which includes a prefabricated housing body in which the sensitive component is inserted, initially with a clearance at one end of the component. A deformation zone of the housing body is plastically deformed in order to fix the component in place in an axial direction by clamping. Then an elastically deformable lid is attached to the housing body, this lid maintaining the component radially in contact against a seat. The protective housing is especially suited for use in devices which contain explosives because no dangerous working materials are utilized during the encapsulation or encasement process and, consequently, there is no exudation of aggressive resin ingredients.

  • Patent number: 4646640
Abstract: For the chronologically staggered initiation of a plurality of electronic explosive delay detonators connected together with a blasting detonating machine, a signal current produced in each explosive detonator by signals sent by the blasting detonating machine, for example an impulse sequence, is integrated up in order to establish the delay time and, for carrying out of the delay, is integrated anew or integrated down to equality of the integrals or of the starting values. According to the invention, the integrating up begins in all explosive detonators simultaneously, with the end of the integrating up being controlled by signals from the blasting detonating machine.
