  • Patent number: 6805552
Abstract: A catalytic gas combustion device for an appliance for personal use with a gas supply device and a catalyst connected to the gas supply device is disclosed. To ignite the gas/air mixture and therefore to initiate catalytic combustion at the catalyst, an ignition device which can be controlled by an ignition system is provided. The gas supply device has a bypass for branching off part of a gas stream which flows onto the ignition device. In this way, the ignition system is actuated even shortly after the gas valve device is opened, and the catalyst is brought to its operating temperature as a result of the explosion of the gas/air mixture.

  • Patent number: 6701937
Abstract: Steam styling tongs including an evaporating device which is supplied with heat by a heating device and comprises an evaporator surface in thermal contact with the heating device. Liquid evaporates on the evaporator surface into steam, which then passes into a steam-distributor chamber and, there, flows outward via through-passages. The heating device is formed in a combustion chamber of the drum, in which, during the heating operation, flame-free combustion of a gas takes place by means of a catalyst, of which the combustion gases pass out via outlets formed in the drum or in the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber and the steam-distributor chamber are formed by a common chamber. Means which prevent water from penetrating into the common chamber are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6591458
Abstract: The invention relates to a top comb for a textile treating or processing machine, especially a combing machine. Said top comb comprises a plurality of needles that are arranged in at least one row in a side-by-side parallel relation. Said needles, at least in some sections, have a pitch unequal 90° relative to the theoretical plane of movement of the fiber strip to be combed. A nipper unit is mounted before the top comb in the direction f movement and a pair of take-down rollers after the top comb. The aim of the invention is to improve the combing capacity of such a top comb. To this end, the needles of the top comb have a pitch (&agr;) 92°, especially 95° in the area of the free needle point.
