  • Patent number: 4648827
Abstract: A screw plastifying and conveying device includes a screw (5) which has a pull-in zone (I) of constant pitch volume (V.sub.0), a first compression zone (II), and adjacent thereto, i.e. in the injection side, a second compression zone (III). The compression ratio (V.sub.1 :V.sub.0) of the second compression zone (III) is between 1:1.0 and 1.2, while that of the first compression zone is between 1:1.6 and 1:4. This makes it possible, by underdosing, to reduce the melt volume in the second compression zone, thereby achieving stable conveying action over a wide operating range. Molded parts with minimal internal tensions and e.g. also molded parts of glass-clear material with unobjectionable optical properties can thus be produced.

  • Patent number: 4349324
Abstract: An injection molding machine, comprises, an injection piston which is hydraulically actuated during programmed injection and dwell pressure phases. During a speed-controlled injection phase I, the pressure in a tool or mold cavity is measured and monitored. As soon as the pressure reaches an initial desired value, a pressure surge-free switching to the dwell pressure phase II is effected. During the dwell pressure phase, the pressure in the tool cavity is controlled and a pressure in a hydraulic cylinder for moving the injection piston is measured and monitored. A switch signal is produced from the tool pressure and the hydraulic pressure, by means of which a switching to a solidification phase III is effected without causing pressure surges. The actual pressure value at the instant of switching serves as the initial desired value for the solidification phase III. The hydraulic pressure is controlled during this phase.

  • Patent number: 4345747
Abstract: In a filling stand for pouring molten metal from a tiltable metallurgical vessel into a metallurgical ladle, the metallurgical ladle is surrounded by a casing to which at least one exhaust conduit is connected. In the casing upper part a pour-in opening for the molten metal is provided, which opening is arranged below an outlet of the tiltable vessel. In order to keep the exhaust and filter performance of the exhaust system low, at least one part of the ladle surrounding casing which comprises the pour-in opening is displaceable in the tilting plane of the tiltable vessel in accordance with the change of position of the metal jet streaming out of the outlet of the tiltable vessel.

  • Patent number: 4286776
Abstract: In an arrangement for capturing and conducting away flue gases forming during charging of, and pouring off from, metallurgical vessels in a steel-making plant, the material to be charged and poured off is brought into and out of the operating position by a container displaceable by means of a crane. The crane trolley is designed to form a displaceable unit with a hood having a draft opening. The hood, in the operating position, covers the container and the mouth of the metallurgical vessel, and the draft opening borders on the discharge opening of a chimney so as to form a flow connection therewith.

  • Patent number: 4256289
Abstract: A converter arrangement includes a tiltable converter vessel surrounded by a casing on whose ceiling a principal discharge conduit for conducting away refining gases, and a secondary discharge conduit for conducting away the smoke forming during charging and pouring, are connected. One side wall of the casing has an opening closeable by a door. The casing is widened in the tilting direction of the converter and a car carrying a charging container is movable into the widened space through the opening in the side wall. The opening can be completely closed when the car is in the moved-in position during charging and pouring off.

  • Patent number: 4243208
Abstract: In a converter plant including a tiltable converter surrounded by a casing to whose ceiling a principal discharge conduit for conducting away refining gases is connected, part of the casing is fastened to a charging device and is displaceable with the same. The charging device is designed as a portal crane displaceable in the direction of the tilting axis of the tiltable converter. A cellular casing part is fastened to the portal crane, is open towards the tiltable converter and has a gas-discharge opening in the ceiling. The remaining casing part is closed, and the cellular part, in the charging position and, if desired, also in the pouring-off position, closes the casing and the discharge opening lies below an additional discharge conduit for conducting away secondary emissions.

  • Patent number: 4212453
Abstract: A plant for refining pig iron by means of oxygen or gases enriched with oxygen has a chamber accommodating a converter and having an upper part, a lower part, a ceiling, a principal hood connected to the ceiling, a closeable charge opening, and a secondary hood provided in the upper part of the chamber, with this chamber the principal hood forms a displaceable unit with a part of the ceiling surrounding it, the secondary hood is united with a stationary part of the ceiling, and the charge opening is closeable by a sliding door guided on rails.

Abstract: A feeding screw assembly of a molding machine for plasticizable masses, particularly, plastics and rubber, comprises a passage part of the screw which has a passage therethrough having mixing means therein for intermixing a plasticizable material which passes through the passage. The material is diverted into the mixing passage which extends completely through the length of the mixing part by communicating passages located upstream for the inflow of the material and downstream for the discharge of the material after it is mixed. The construction may also include a passage portion which comprises an annular displaceable part having an end or side bounding a communicating passage upstream and which will move in a direction to close off this passage after a part of the other material has been fed into the mixing passage.
