  • Patent number: 6682360
Abstract: A coupling element (K) for mounting to a shielded electrical cable (1), and a method for mounting the it. The cable (1) has plural insulated electrical conductors, a surrounding metallic shield, and an outer insulating jacket. The shield is fixed to a sleeve-like metallic adapter into which conductors of the cable (1) project. The adapter is surrounded by an insulating protective part (2), and for removal of the coupling element the adapter has a hollow space that is free from the insulating material of the protective part (2). An internally-threaded metallic sleeve (7) is freely rotatable about its axis and is captively attached to the adapter at its end facing away from the cable (1) and encompasses the adapter. A connector body (8) having a threaded fitting and enclosing the contact carrier is screwed into the sleeve so that it abuts the adapter with a moisture-tight fit.

  • Publication number: 20030092321
Abstract: In an arrangement for attaching a plug-in connector to a shielded electric line, a shield including a braid made of metallic wires is applied over the insulated conductor and the shield is surrounded by a sheath made of insulating material. A tubular, metallic contact element is provided, against the external surface of which the shield of the line presses all around and through which the core of the line is guided. The plug-in connector is positioned in a pot-shaped metallic housing, which encloses the plug-in connector along its entire length and leaves its plug side free. The contact element is implemented as a tube connector, which projects through the wall of the housing and has an extension attached to its end, which presses against the wall tightly and solidly. The shield is fixed to the housing via a crimp sleeve attached over the tube connector projecting from the housing.

  • Patent number: 5941717
Abstract: An arrangement for introducing the end of a shielded electric line (2) into a metal housing (1) is indicated. The line (2) has at least one core (6,7) comprising an insulated electric conductor, a flexible metal shield (11) surrounding the core (6,7) and a covering sheath (5) made of an insulating material. The shield (11) with the sheath (5) removed is affixed to a metal clamp (12) which provides a good electrical contact with the housing (1). The clamp (12) is placed inside the housing (1) where the bare conductor of the core (6,7) with the sheath (5) removed is connected via a contact point (8,9) to a component (10) located in the housing (1). After its circumferential surface with the largest radial dimension is bared, the core (6,7) including the conductor and the contact point (8,9) as well as the clamp (12) with the clamped shield (11) are imbedded in an insulator (15).

  • Patent number: 5032084
Abstract: There is described an apparatus comprising a flat ribbon cable including a plurality of electrical conductors connected between two contact locations rotatable one with respect to the other. At each end of the flat ribbon cable, there is provided a connection line including a plurality of connection conductors, and a connection assembly comprised of a receptacle assembly and a plug assembly. The receptacle assembly surrounds an end portion of the flat ribbon cable including uninsulated portions of the electrical conductors, while the plug assembly includes a plurality of spring contacts each attached to an end of one of the connection conductors. Upon insertion of the plug assembly into the receptacle assembly, the spring contacts compressively engage mechcially fixed, uninsulated portions of the electrical conductors, thus providing electrical contacts therebetween.
