  • Patent number: 5348242
Abstract: A yarn winding apparatus for winding a cross wound package, and comprising a cutting blade arranged below the traversing triangle and a yarn lifting member which is adapted for movement between positions below and above the traversing triangle. When the winding of a package is completed, the lifting member is lifted, which in turn lifts the advancing yarn from its traversing triangle, and in addition, the lifting member captures and retains the advancing yarn in a laterally fixed position. Upon the subsequent lowering of the lifting member, the captured yarn is brought into the engagement with the cutting blade and severed. In the lifted position of the lifting member, the advancing yarn also may be lifted from its reciprocating yarn guide so that a plurality of circumferential final winds are formed on the completed package.

  • Patent number: 4973007
Abstract: A yarn traversing apparatus is disclosed which is adapted for guiding a running yarn onto a rotating core to form a core supported package. The apparatus includes a slide mounting a yarn guide, and a conveyor belt having parallel runs for reciprocating the slide. More particularly, the slide is coupled to one of the runs during one traverse and it is then released and coupled to the other of the runs during the opposite traverse. To avoid the loss of kinetic energy during stroke reversals, the slide of the present invention is connected with each run of the drive belt by means of a coupling member, which is positively driven along a curved quick track at each of the ends of the stroke path, and at the traversing speed. By this arrangement, a substantial portion of the kinetic energy of the slide is transmitted from the belt run which is moving toward the reversal zone directly to the oppositely moving run.

  • Patent number: 4881694
Abstract: An apparatus for winding a textile yarn into a cross-wound package is disclosed, in which the yarn is wound about the package at a substantially constant rate while the yarn is guided onto the package by a traversing guide. The apparatus includes a yarn guide means which is reciprocated along a linear stroke path, and means are provided for recovering the kinetic energy of the yarn guide means during its reversal of movement at each end of the stroke path. Several specific embodiments of the yarn traversing guide are disclosed, and in one embodiment the traversing guide includes gripper means mounted on a slide which is positioned between parallel runs of a drive belt, and control means for moving the gripper means to alternately engage the two runs of the belt and thus reciprocate the slide.
