  • Patent number: 4102507
Abstract: In a method for winding yarn on a yarn winding region of a bobbin in a textile machine having a yarn supply device delivering yarn to the bobbin, which method includes after severing of the yarn between a full bobbin and the yarn supply device, drawing off by means of a suction device, the yarn which continues to be delivered by the yarn supply device, and, at the commencement of winding a bobbin, the yarn coming from the yarn supply device is engaged by a hook-shaped catch element which rotates with the bobbin, a tie on reserve winding is formed from the yarn downstream of the catch element by positioning the suction device so as to bring the yarn leaving the yarn supply device to a position where it intersects the plane of rotation of the catch element at the diameter at which the catch element is located and, immediately after the yarn is caught by the catch element, bringing the yarn subsequently coming from the yarn supply device into the winding region and simultaneously extracting the yarn downstream o

  • Patent number: 4093133
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for winding yarn onto a bobbin in a textile machine in a manner to form a reserve winding at one end of the bobbin, the yarn forming the reserve winding is given an accurately determined length by drawing a length of yarn greater than the predetermined length into a suction device before commencing winding of a bobbin and then cutting the yarn at a predetermined point beyond the inlet end of the suction device at a time bearing a fixed relation to the catching of the yarn by a catch element associated with the bobbin. The timing of the cutting operation is controlled by monitoring the instant at which the inlet end of the suction device is moved to a position at which the yarn can be caught by the catch element.

  • Patent number: 3990223
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the simultaneous freeing of yarn at a group of cops during the changing of cops in a spinning machine having spindles without appendages, the machine including a yarn guide rail carrying yarn guides which grip the yarn from the side and means supporting the guide rail for downward movement from the region above the spindles toward the foot of the spindles, wherein the yarn guide rail is employed as the yarn freeing rail and downward movement of the yarn guide rail is effected by initially rotating the rail through 90.degree. about an axis extending in the longitudinal direction of the rail so that the yarn guides are pivoted downwardly, and subsequently lowering the yarn guide rail toward the foot of the spindles.

  • Patent number: 3986326
Abstract: In a ring spinning machine, for preventing the presence of a loose yarn end lying on the yarn upstream of the traveler upon resumption of spinning after a full bobbin is replaced by an empty bobbin on the spindle, the ring rail, while the spindle is stationary, is raised to a position above the spin-start position and thereafter the rotation of the spindle is restarted for initiating a normal cop building operation, during the course of which the ring rail is reciprocated between the spin-start position and a highest spinning position.

  • Patent number: 3978646
Abstract: In an open-end yarn spinning unit, a break-up roller which is driven by transmission of driving force from the spinning rotor, without mechanical contact between the roller and the rotor, is subjected to a speed regulation by application of a retarding force without mechanical connection between the roller and the source of each retarding force.
