  • Patent number: 4906886
Abstract: An ultrasound sensor is used for measuring the sound pressure amplitude in the focal range of focused ultrasound shock waves. The sensor contains a polymer foil which is piezoelectrically activated in one region and is coupled to electrodes which are physically separated from the region. The polymer foil is arranged in a hollow plastic cylinder with its flat surface sides parallel to the central longitudinal axis of the hollow cylinder. By this measure, interfering diffraction effects are reduced and miniaturization of the ultrasound sensor is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4896525
Abstract: A method for the self monitoring transducer in which approximate calibration of the transducer does not require physical disconnection of the measuring chain so that the transducer need not be uncoupled to be measured. The method permits monitoring the transducer during its operation by modulating at least one predetermined quantity h.sub.i with a suitable actor. The measuring signal associated with the individual modulation quantities are used to monitor and calibrate the transducer.

  • Patent number: 4831601
Abstract: An apparatus for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic signals for an ultrasonic imaging device operating by the pulse echo method. There is arranged next to a linear array of ultrasonic transducer elements serving as ultrasonic transmitter, a matrix type array of ultrasonic transducer elements serving as ultrasonic receiver, the columns of which run parallel to the longitudinal direction of the linear array. • Patent number: 4825685
Abstract: A self monitoring pressure transducer includes a reference chamber, that transmits the pressure through a fluid medium to the flat side of a diaphragm, using a piezoelement, arranged in the reference chamber, as an electrically controllable actor. The piezoelement can modulate the pressure in the reference chamber by a predetermined quantity. The modulation of the measuring signal associated with this pressure modulation permits self-monitoring of the pressure transducer while it is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4589284
Abstract: An ultrasonic head is a linear array consisting of a plurality of transducer elements. The array is perpendicular to a sectional plane of the object under study and can be rotated about its longitudinal axis.
