  • Patent number: 6045405
Abstract: A sensor connector comprises a conductive outer housing within which is mounted a certain length of shielded able connected to receptacle terminals that receive pins of a sensor. A shield element extends across the inside of the outer housing to provide a shield means between the sensor and the cable leads which, in one embodiment, is stamped and formed, and in another embodiment is a printed circuit board with a ground plane on one side and surface mounted capacitors on the other side interconnected to the terminals for filtering the signal.

  • Patent number: 5897403
Abstract: An apparatus for making contact with a conical contact, in particular a battery terminal, is specified, which apparatus is manufactured from sheet metal by punching and shaping and has two rings of different diameters which each have an opening on one side and are connected to one another by means of two bent clips, one to the left and one to the right of the openings and the apparatus has means for reducing the width of the openings which means engage on the clips at least one further contact making area and has strips arranged on the external side of the rings, respectively at positions lying one opposite the other, the free ends of which strips have a shape which is complementary to the free end of the respective opposite strip, and the free ends, which are shaped in a complementary fashion, of opposite strips bear one against the other.

  • Patent number: 5836789
Abstract: An electrical harness for a device having a housing with multiple access ports that provide cable access to an electrical device therein, where the device has at least two connection points, the harness comprising at least two cables having one end of each terminated with a connector that is complementary to a respective one of the connection points on the electrical device characterized in that the cables are encapsulated within a seal member in their relative positions with respect to the points and seal member may be seated within the housing such that the respective connectors and connection points correspond.

  • Patent number: 5716243
Abstract: An automotive battery connection assembly comprises terminals for automated connection to battery posts, and a housing with plus and minus pole circuitry mounted therein. The terminal comprises a contact section and a rotatable spring element that has tabs that cam against the periphery of the contact section. Rotation of the spring element thus clamps the battery post between the spring element and the contact section. The latter design enables robotic assembly of the battery terminals to battery posts, for example by means of a tool having pins that engage in slots of the spring element. Within the housing, a linear actuation motor drives a bridge element between tabs of the plus and minus pole circuits respectively for short circuiting the battery in the occurrence of an accident. The short circuiting blows the high current fuse thereby disconnecting power supply to most devices of the automobile. The latter is to prevent occurrence of electrical fires.

  • Patent number: 5709562
Abstract: A sealed ZIF connector for mating to a complementary connector with an internal PCB is for use with non-gold-plated terminals for a cost effective design. Such a connector may be for use in an automobile, for connection to a motor management electronics module. The connector is provided with a pivotable camming member having an oval camming surface positioned between contact arms of the terminals. In the pre-mated condition the camming surface spreads the terminal contact arms apart and the connectors can be coupled until the end of the PCB is almost against the camming surface. Upon rotation of the camming mechanism, the cam releases the contacts which bias against the PCB, whereby the cam subsequently abuts the end of the PCB to slightly separate the connectors. Separation of the connectors causes a wiping action between the contacts and the PCB to clean the surfaces from oxidation layers. The latter thus allows use of tin plated contacts for ZIF connectors.
