  • Patent number: 7331162
Abstract: A slicing machine has a deposition surface adapted to support a fusible bottom sheet. Slices are cut from a foodstuff and deposited as a stack on the bottom sheet on the surface between edges of the surface so that a fusible top sheet can be placed atop the stack. Respective bars at the surface edges have bar edges and are each pivotal between a working position projecting over the surface with the bar edges aligned vertically with the respective surface edges and rest positions retracted from above the sheet on the surface. Actuators can pivot the bars from their rest positions into their working positions. Heaters are provided in at least some of the edges. In the working positions the sheet edges are pinched between the bar edges and the heated surface to bond the edges together.

  • Patent number: 6931973
Abstract: A slicing machine has a blade having an edge, and a carriage adapted to carry a foodstuff to be sliced and displaceable past the blade edge in forward and reverse directions. A reversible drive on the support is connected to the carriage for displacing it in both directions. A sensor on the support generates an output when the foodstuff on the carriage is generally engaged by the blade edge. A controller connected between the sensor and the drive serves, on forward displacement of the carriage and foodstuff thereon, to forwardly displace the carriage and foodstuff thereon by the drive on generation of the output and subsequently, when the sensor means stops generating the output, displaces the carriage and the foodstuff thereon in the reverse direction by the drive.

  • Publication number: 20050115378
Abstract: A slicing machine has a blade displaceable on a housing, a housing plate on the housing extending parallel to a cutting direction adjacent the blade, and a slide adapted to support a foodstuff to be sliced, displaceable parallel to the direction on the housing past the blade, and having a holding face extending perpendicular to the direction. An array of parallel and horizontal alignment bars oriented in a plane extending parallel to the holding face on the slide are displaceable parallel to the direction relative to the holding face. An alignment guide or drive allows movement of the alignment bars parallel to the direction toward the holding face and thereby pressing and aligning of the foodstuff thereagainst. A similar array of parallel and horizontal pusher bars press the foodstuff between the alignment bars and the holding face toward the housing plate.

  • Publication number: 20050092153
Abstract: A machine for slicing a foodstuff has a housing, a blade displaceable on the housing, and a stop plate on the housing adjacent the blade, and displaceable on the housing to control slice thickness. A knob rotatable on the housing is coupled to the stop plate for adjusting slice thickness. A carriage adapted to hold the foodstuff against the plate is displaceable past the blade. A drive can be energized to reciprocate the carriage past the blade and thereby cut a slice from the foodstuff as the carriage moves past the blade. The knob is axially shiftable from a rest position or a separate control ring immediately adjacent the knob is rotationally shiftable from a rest position to initiate a slicing operation.

  • Patent number: 6666006
Abstract: A slicing machine has a main housing having a horizontal conveyor surface and a subassembly in the main housing for cutting slices from a foodstuff and depositing them on the conveyor surface. A supply housing immediately upstream of the main housing carries a supply roll of flexible strip and mechanism for feeding the flexible strip downstream toward the main housing. A cutter on the supply housing can sever a sheet from a leading end of the flexible strip. A gripper above the surface is displaceable between an upstream and downstream positions of the surface. The gripper is closable to grip and openable to release the leading end of the flexible strip so as it moves into its downstream positions it pulls the strip downstream above the surface and, once the cutter has operated, the gripper opens to drop the sheet severed from the strip down onto the surface.

  • Publication number: 20020050198
Abstract: A slicing machine has a blade, a stop plate extending parallel to the blade, and a carriage adapted to hold a sliceable product against the plate and displaceable past the blade to cut a slice from the product. A large-diameter disk is rotatable about an axis substantially parallel to the blade and is formed with a spiral groove. A follower coupled to the stop plate is engaged in the groove. A drive motor rotates the disk to displace the stop plate parallel to the blade axis. A small-diameter sensor wheel is positively coupled by a nonsmooth drive element to the disk. A sensor determines the angular position and rotation of the disk and generates an actual-value output corresponding thereto. A desired-value signal corresponding to a desired slice thickness is fed to a controller connected to the sensor and to the motor to make the output equal to the desired-value signal.

  • Patent number: 5918444
Abstract: A cold cut slicer having a packaging device is comprised of a sheeting roll having a pulling-out device, and a cutting device for supporting sheets or covering sheets, which are grasped by a swivel arm having evacuatable suction heads and which are brought to the setting-down location of the cold cut slicer. If the swivel arm is extendable, telescope-like, it can additionally grasp and swivel a tray. The cold cuts are stacked or fanned out on the sheeting or the tray. The goods are conveyed by a conveyor belt to a sealing station having a lifting frame and a sealing frame. The lifting frame raises the package made up of sheeting and cold cuts and presses it against the sealing frame. The result is a sealing that is tight all around the package, or is interrupted at the comers, or that is open on one side, like a sack. A short conveyor belt provided in the lifting frame ejects the sealed goods.

  • Patent number: 5241885
Abstract: A slicing machine has a housing, a rotatable blade on the housing having an edge defining a blade plane, and an input table on the housing displaceable parallel to the plane past the blade edge and having a holder adapted to hold a foodstuff to be sliced by the blade. The foodstuff is movable from a starting position by the table and holder toward the blade to slice the foodstuff. An abutment plate on the housing is displaceable between a shield position lying generally on the blade plane and a retracted position offset away from the table from the blade plane. An actuator connected between the housing and the plate sets the plate in its positions. A sensor generates an output when the foodstuff is moved out of the starting position. A control unit connected between the sensor and the actuator displaces the plate out of the shield position when the output is generated.

  • Patent number: 5216960
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting slices from a foodstuff has a support, a blade on the support extending perpendicular to and rotatable about an axis, and a table adapted to support the foodstuff to be sliced. The table is reciprocated transversely of the axis past the blade and the foodstuff is synchronously periodically shifted on the table axially toward the blade. A guide rail extends transversely of the axis immediately adjacent the blade and carries a holding arm engageable with the foodstuff on the table and displaceable along the rail in a forward direction to press the foodstuff against the table and in an opposite reverse direction. Interengaging formations on the rail and arm prevent movement of the arm in the reverse direction on the guide rail, and a drive including an electric motor connected to the arm displaces same on the rail in the forward direction and disengages the formations and displaces the arm on the rail in the reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4867257
Abstract: The slicing machine, primarily for sliced meats, has a code reader, particularly a bar code reader, available in the vicinity of its goods slicing carriage which reliably determines the goods code for the sliced goods during the slicing process and fetches a programmed price per unit weight from a data memory of a weighing device. The price per unit weight is fed to a processor which determines the price of the goods being weighed or the retail price from the weight measurement. The delivery tray of the slicing machine can be a weighing tray of a weighing device built into the slicing machine. An indicator and/or a charge slip printer can then automatically print the total price that must be paid.

  • Patent number: 4598618
Abstract: A foodstuff such as a sausage is sliced in a predetermined slicing direction into a succession of slices each having a respective width measured parallel to the slice direction. This succession of slices is then deposited on a support in a plurality of rows with the slices in each row offset from one another by a predetermined first distance and the rows offset from each other by a predetermined second distance. The width of the slices is continuously measured as they are cut and at least one of the distances is automatically varied in dependence on the measured width to produce a uniformly overlapping array of slices. In addition the machine can calculate the weight of a given slice by combining the width with the slice thickness and the slice density, and this weight can be divided into a desired weight to determine how many slices at the predetermined size are needed to make up the desired weight. A signal can indicate then when this weight is reached.
