  • Patent number: 6398241
Abstract: A support arrangement comprising a first support part for connection to a suspension strut and to a steering device of a motor vehicle, and a second support part for holding a wheel bearing, the first support part and the second support part having wall regions formed in a metal-casting process, the first support part and the second support part being connected to each other by means of screws, two brake support arms being formed on the second support part for attachment of the brake device, and the one brake support arm having wall regions which are formed such that they are substantially thinner than the corresponding wall regions of the other brake support arm. By producing the support arrangement in two parts a considerable saving in weight over producing it in one part can be achieved, with all safety regulations being observed.

  • Patent number: 6170919
Abstract: The invention provides a vehicle suspension assembly in which an inadmissibly high axial bracing or rigging of the bearing assembly is avoided. For this purpose, the wheel support member is provided with an elastically or plastically deformable protruding rib in the region of the front face of the outer race of the rolling bearing.

  • Patent number: 5414784
Abstract: An axial retention 4 of a roller bearing 1 in a support part 2 comprises a stop shoulder 7, disposed at an elastically or flexurally widenable portion 6 of the support part 2. When the roller bearing is pressed into the support part 2, the portion 6 widens. After the roller bearing has been pushed up to the shoulder 3, a reverse or return deformation of the portion 6 occurs, so that the stop shoulder 7 forms the axial retention 4 for the roller bearing 1.

  • Patent number: 5100217
Abstract: The proposed wheel bearing has a hub 1 mounted on the preferably integral bearing shaft 4 of a wheel part 5. The hub 1 rotates on a ball bearing arrangement 2. The ball bearing inner ring or rings 3 are stressed via a washer 10 against a shoulder 6 on the bearing shaft 4. In order that the bearing shaft 4 can take greater operational forces the bearing shaft 4 has an axial bore 7, which accommodates a draw bolt 8 screwed into a plastics sleeve 13 so as to prestress the inner ring or rings 3. In this way the securing of the assembly avoids tensile stress in the shaft 4.

  • Patent number: 4627667
Abstract: There is disclosed a vehicle suspension unit in the form of a swivel bearing for an axle unit and comprising a wheel bearing assembly, a shock absorber leg connection and a hollow connecting element between the bearing housing and the shock absorber leg connection. The shock absorber leg connection comprises a substantially closed sleeve which receives the shock absorber leg, and a threaded fastener which extends transversely through the sleeve and, upon tightening, causes the sleeve to exert a clamping action around the shock absorber leg. The unit is formed as a one-piece casting, or from pressed sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 4617069
Abstract: A method is disclosed for improving the immunity to temperature changes of cast iron containing lamellar graphite. The structure of the cast iron melt is suitably adjusted by means of carbide forming agents, to wit chromium and/or molybdenum and an annealing treatment in such a manner that the gray cast iron withstands increased thermal shock and dynamic stresses.

  • Patent number: 4556234
Abstract: A cast wheel fork for a motor vehicle axis comprises a arm having a wheel support at one longitudinal end and a bearing at an opposite longitudinal end. The arm has a substantially hat-shaped, transverse cross-sectional configuration formed by two substantially parallel arm members and a plurality of crossbars connecting the two arm members. The crossbars add strength to the arm profile and permit the wheel fork to be manufactured economically and to be lightweight.
