  • Patent number: 4490343
Abstract: A method for separating chlorosilanes from a gaseous mixture which additionally contains hydrogen and hydrogen chloride by washing the gaseous mixture with saturated hydrochloric acid is disclosed. The resulting chlorosilane hydrolysis products can remain in the hydrochloric acid serving as washing liquid, without interfering with the purifying action. The suspended hydrolysis products are easily filtrable, and can be periodically separated from the hydrochloric acid. In a preferred embodiment, the hydrochloric acid is recirculated and injected into the gas stream being washed.

  • Patent number: 4234503
Abstract: A process for preparing a gamma amino propyl alkoxy silane of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl moiety of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R' is methyl or phenyl, and y is 0, 1 or 2 which comprises contacting the corresponding gamma-chloropropyl alkoxy silane with ammonia under pressure at a temperature between 50.degree. and 90.degree. C. while stirring the reaction mixture.

  • Patent number: 4234502
Abstract: An improved process for the production of an aminoalkylsilane by reaction of a chloroalkylsilane with ammonia or alkylamine at an elevated temperature or pressure wherein the chloroalkylsilane is added in a less than stoichiometric ratio to the ammonia or alkylamine preheated in a pressure vessel at a temperature between 50.degree. and 200.degree. C. Thereafter the reaction is carried out in a known manner within the temperature range of 50.degree. to 200.degree. C. By this manipulative technique, a higher yield of aminoalkylsilane is obtained per unit of time and the aminoalkylsilane is obtained in a greater purity.

  • Patent number: 4178295
Abstract: An improvement in a process for preparing phthalide by reacting chlorophthalide with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature between 50.degree. and 350.degree. C., the improvement residing in carrying out the process in the absence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor, flowing the chlorophthalide continuously in fluid form through a solid catalyst bed in a reactor, passing the hydrogen through in such an excess so as to sweep off the hydrogen chloride formed and withdrawing phthalide in fluid form.
