Patent number: 6639389Abstract: An arrangement and method for protecting a multiple voltage supply system against voltage arc-over between the different voltage planes. For this, the voltage in the low-voltage plane of the supply system is clamped to the low-voltage value with a voltage limiter until a battery disconnect switch in the high-voltage plane of the supply system is opened and the generator output voltage in the high-voltage plane is adjusted back to the voltage value of the low-voltage plane. As a result, the high-voltage plane of the supply system is disconnected from the high-voltage sources. Consequently, the voltage in the low-voltage plane is prevented from increasing even in case of a short-circuit between both voltage planes of the supply system and the consumers in the low-voltage plane can continue to be operated safely.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2002Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Thomas Binder, Roland Mauser, Rainer Mäckel, Fritz Schmidt, Manfred Stege

Patent number: 4685698Abstract: Apparatus for controlling a vehicle suspension system includes acceleration sensors mounted on the vehicle for producing electrical signals representative of road surface undulations or irregularities, processing circuitry for processing the sensor signals to produce control signals, and a shock absorber or damper having adjustable damping characteristics. The damper preferably includes two chambers connected by a controllable bypass. One of the chambers becomes smaller during compression of the suspension system, and one becomes smaller during expansion. A controllable throttle and/or valve is provided in the bypass to adjust the damping characteristic of the absorber. The circuitry produces control signals H and w which are representative of the average height of the overall road surface undulations, and a ratio of average heights of long-wave and short-wave undulations, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1986Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Walter Klinkner, Fritz Schmidt

Patent number: 3950606Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for cooling an electric cable which comprises deep-cooled inner and outer conductors at high voltage and zero potential, respectively, and is provided with cable terminations, in which said inner and outer conductors are connected with respective inner and outer ordinary conductors. The invention consists of the provision that separate cooling loops with a common coolant supply unit are associated with the inner and outer ordinary conductors, and that likewise separate cooling loops with a common return and a further common coolant supply unit are associated with the inner and outer conductors. In this arrangement, the heat losses produced can be removed to the coolant supply units with relatively high efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1974Date of Patent: April 13, 1976Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Fritz Schmidt
