    Abstract: An apparatus for fabricating a coverlayer of optical information storage media is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a rotating platform, a rotating plate and a UV irradiation system. A substrate is disposed on the rotating platform and a radiation setting resin material is disposed on a surface of the substrate. The rotating plate is moved towards the rotating platform to compress the radiation-setting resin material against the substrate. The resulting structure is rotated by rotating the rotating platform. A thin radiation-setting resin layer with a uniform thickness is formed on the substrate. The radiation-setting resin layer is illuminated by a UV light to harden the radiation-setting resin layer. Next, the rotating plate is separated from the radiation-setting resin layer while the radiation-setting resin layer remains adhered to the substrate. The hardened radiation-setting resin layer serves as a coverlayer of the optical information storage media.

    Abstract: A polymeric material applicable for making a data-recording layer of a multi-layer recording medium in the process using a plastic stamper is provided. In the manufacturing process of multi-layer recording media, a plastic substrate carrying data signals is used as a stamper. The stamper includes a plastic substrate formed thereon a signal-carrying layer. The polymeric material is applied on the plastic stamper to form a data-recording layer. The polymeric material has good duplicating characteristics and has different adhesion to a metallic layer and a polymeric layer so that data-recording layer made by the polymeric material is easy to be peeled off from the stamper. The stamper is also reusable for several times so as to save manufacturing cost.

    Abstract: A method for preparing ester end-capped polyalkylene ether is disclosed. Cyclic ether monomers are subjected to ring-opening polymerzation at a temperature of 20.degree.-80.degree. C. and a pressure of 0-10 atm in the presence of a solid acid serving as catalyst and a mixture of acid and acid anhydride serving as a promoter. The solid acid is an oxide of group III and group IV elements and has been modified by sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate or ammonium sulfite.
