  • Publication number: 20060273760
Abstract: A nickel metal hydride/nickel cadmium secondary battery charger includes: a charging base having a lower casing and a cover; a charge control circuit board installed in a containing space of the lower casing; a power supply plug with its external end corresponding to the cylindrical shape of a cigarette lighter in a car for connecting a power supply and conducing electric power, and its internal end being a protruding ear and having a protruding axle pivotally coupled to both sides of the protruding ear, and a conducting wire passed through the interior of one of the protruding axles and connected to a power supply input terminal of the charge control circuit board. The power supply plug uses two protruding axles of the protruding ear as an axis to be rotated and folded from 0° to 180°, so that the protruding axles is extended in front of the charging base or folded in the opposite direction into the battery compartment to facilitate its carrying and reduce its storage space.

  • Publication number: 20060226810
Abstract: A serial charger with the function of automatic change of charging speed for NiCd/NiH batteries is provided where the different charging modes for multi-speed (four speed) charging process, two speed charging process or two speed charging process in two charging phases can be achieved by use of the speed-changing principle with a low power consumption of an exchange power unit. The finished charging time of each battery varies inversely as the number of the detected batteries to be charged. No matter whether the charging voltage is variable or constant, the charging current varies automatically to achieve the speedy charging process or the normal charging process even under low power consumption. Accordingly, an exchange power unit can be reduced in size and built in the charger so that the charger is convenient to carry and the finished charging time can be adjusted automatically according to the demand of battery consumption of customers.

  • Publication number: 20060170393
Abstract: A portable battery charger in shape of thumb having a USB connector mounted on a circuit board for controlling the charging process. The circuit board includes a charging terminal unit consisting of a positive and a negative terminal. A housing is adapted to cover the circuit board and fix the USB connector in place. A charging chamber is formed in the housing for receiving one or two charging batteries. The USB connector, the circuit board and the charging chamber are joined together to form a strip-shaped body in a linear axial (x-x) direction, thereby facilitating the carrying and the connection to an electronic product with USB connector.

  • Publication number: 20060139011
Abstract: A NiH/NiCd (nickel hydrogen/nickel cadmium) battery charger with the function of emergency power supply unit having a main body with a charging chamber and a charging circuit positioned within the main body to allow an electric connection to the charging chamber and the power input interface. This charging control circuit is controlled by an electrical switch which divides the charging chamber into two or more parts. When the power input interface is connected, the electrical switch shuts off automatically to make the batteries in the charging chamber to be charged in groups. This is the function of charger. When the power input interface is switched off, the batteries in different circuit are joined in series to supply power as an emergency power supply unit. Therefore, with the design principle of “separate charging and common sharing”, it can protect the rechargeable batteries and provide power in lacking of power supply unit outdoors.

  • Patent number: 7068011
Abstract: The present invention relates to a series charger with separate detection of batteries which includes a charging control device for converting the inputted AC power into DC power so as to charging four batteries in series connection. The charging control device further provides a reference voltage source to a control IC which is connected with a current detector for measuring the current value of the batteries. Each of the series-connected batteries is parallel-connected with a switch element. A one-way diode is interposed between the positive end of the batteries and each of the switch elements. Besides, the control IC provides ??V to the positive terminal of the respective charging circuit of the batteries for detecting the end-point voltage thereof. When each of the batteries is fully charged, the respective switch element is switched in a close circuit so that the charging current continues to flow downward for further charging operation.

  • Publication number: 20060049798
Abstract: A nickel hydrogen battery charger with the function of detection of battery capacity having an instant discharge loop coupled to a charging circuit. A rapid detection of the battery capacity is performed by use of the instant voltage level during discharge. It takes only few seconds to determine if the battery capacity lies within the allowable range. No more charging process is necessary when the batteries reach the preset criterion. To the contrary, a charging process is required when they don't reach it. In this way, it is avoidable that the mixed use of parallel/series-connected batteries with different capacities produces reverse flow, thereby resulting in overheating or even exploding risks due to overdischarge of the batteries with larger capacity.
