In the apparatus, the atomic vapor cell detection path and the first laser irradiation path are both directed toward a target region and at least partially overlap. In this way, the detection paths of optical pumping and photoacoustic imaging are at least partially coincident, ensuring that electrophysiological signals and blood oxygen signals originate from the same tissue region and avoiding the spacing constraints of conventional sensors.
