  • Patent number: 5340555
Abstract: The present invention provides a process of effectively absorbing and decomposing a halogenated hydrocarbon so as not to exhaust it in the air. The present invention provides a process for treating a gas containing halogenated hydrocarbon, which comprises the following steps:(a) the gas containing halogenated hydrocarbon is contacted with a solution which contains an aprotic polar compound having a 5 or 6 membered ring and a nitrogen at an alpha-position of a carbonyl, to absorb and recover a portion of the halogenated hydrocarbon, and(b) the gas, which is exhausted from the step (a) and still contains halogenated hydrocarbon, is contacted, with heating, with a mixture solution of an aprotic polar compound and a caustic alkali to decompose the halogenated hydrocarbon.

  • Patent number: 5132474
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of effectively recovering a hydrocarbon halide and the use of a specific aprotic polar compound for said method. Thus, the present invention provides a method of recovering a hydrocarbon halide comprising absorbing the hydrocarbon halide into an aprotic polar compound which has a 5 or 6 membered ring and a nitrogen atom at an alpha-position of a carbonyl group. In the present method, the absorbed hydrocarbon halide can be easily recovered by usual methods.

  • Patent number: 4391945
Abstract: The present invention relates to an amphoteric resin obtained by condensation of polyethylenepolyamine and butane-1,2,3,4-tetra-carboxylic acid. The present invention can provide several forms of amphoteric resins such as linear structure, somewhat cross-linked water insoluble and water swellable structure and water insoluble and cross-linked structure, since the resin contains in its repeating units an imino group, a carboxylic radical and an amido group. The resin can form a chelate with several kinds of metal ions. Furthermore, the resin can also be modified by introducing several kinds of functional groups to bestow upon the resin particular chelating ability. Therefore the invention can provide novel resins, which have a strong chelating faculty and are suitably used for removing and recovering agents of heavy metals and noble metals.
