Abstract: A process for absorbing an ingredient into a gel item to form a gel has the steps of providing an ingredient and a liquid media, homogenizing the ingredient and the liquid media in a mixer to form a mixture, providing a gel item capable of absorbing the liquid media and absorbing the mixture into the gel item to form a gel. The ingredient is insoluble in the liquid media, and in the mixture form micelles suspended in the liquid media. The micelles contain the ingredient and have an average micelle diameter. As the gel item has an average pore size which is greater than or equal to the average micelle diameter, the micelles containing the ingredient will be absorbed into the gel item to form the gel.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for making a granular detergent composition comprising the steps of: (a) granulating a detersive material comprising a detergent surfactant and a builder; and (b) coating an inorganic aqueous solution on the granules substantially to coat the granules.

Abstract: Secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate surfactants are admixed with an organic material such as a polyacrylate, and the resulting mixture is compacted into chips. The chips are comminuted to provide particles and the particles are coated with a free-flow aid. The resulting particles exhibit improved solubility and are especially useful in laundry detergents.

Abstract: A process for preparing detergent particles containing secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate surfactant comprises admixing secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate surfactants with powdered detersive ingredients and admixing the resulting powder with a surfactant paste. The resulting detergent dough is extruded through an orifice and sized to provide particles. The particles are coated with a free-flow aid. The resulting detergent particles exhibit improved solubility and are especially useful in laundry detergents.

Abstract: Preparation of secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate particles comprises admixing secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate surfactants with a deagglomerating agent such as zeolite or silica. The resulting powder is agglomerated with a nonionic surfactant, and formed into particles. The particles are then coated with a free-flow aid. Secondary (2,3) alkyl sulfate particles treated in this manner have improved solubility characteristics for use in laundry detergents.
