Abstract: A bed including a support frame, a foundation configured to support the support frame, means for displacing the support frame in a longitudinal direction with respect to the foundation, and means for displacing the support frame in a transverse direction with respect to the foundation. In addition, a method for inducing sleep by providing the proper stimulation to the vestibular organs is also provided. The method includes providing a support member configured to support an individual, controlling the displacement of the support member in a longitudinal direction of the support member, and controlling the displacement of the support member in a transverse direction of the support member. The combined motion of the support member in both the longitudinal direction and the transverse is configured to induce sleep.

The cables may be slantways or vertically installed from superiority to inferiority. The bed also comprises means displacing support components in longitudinal direction and transverse direction separately relative to the foundation. Moreover, it also provides a method for initiating sleep by providing appreciate stimulation to vestibular organs.
