  • Patent number: 6308535
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of designed knitwear on circular stocking knitting and knitting machines is provided using one or more feed stations, starting from a first base yarn (13) and from a second base yarn (14) for the manufacture of a basic knit fabric and from at least one dyed yarn (15) to create a design in the basic knit fabric. Some needles (11) are selected to pick up and knit the dyed yarn (15) and the first base yarn (13) without picking up the second base yarn, while the remaining needles pick up and knit the second and first base yarns (13, 14), excluding the dyed yarn.

  • Patent number: 6286343
Abstract: A device for the selection of the sinkers for the manufacture of designed terry cloth knitwear on circular knitting machines and stocking knitting machines. Each sinker (13) is capable of oscillations in a vertical plane between a canceled, resting position, in which its tail end (21) is not intercepted by a return cam (24), and an operating position, in which its tail end interacts with the return cam for the longitudinal movements of the sinker. The sinker also has a bottom part that interacts with inlet and outlet cams, and the sinker can be moved from the canceled, resting position to the operating position by a selection device acting on an oscillating selector associated with the shaft of the sinker.

Abstract: A method for selecting the needles in the production of a held stitch and a dropped stitch on circular stocking knitting machines, knitting machines and the like with one or more feed stations and selection units which operate the needles by use of jacks. The method includes prearranging two consecutive selection units (15, 16) in the feed station or in each feed station and using, starting from a condition of preventive extraction of all jacks with the respective needles lowered, one selection unit to control the needles that must knit the held stitch and the other selection unit to control the needles that must knit the dropped stitch.

  • Patent number: 6212912
Abstract: A method and circular stocking knitting and knitting machine are disclosed. The method includes providing a first base yarn and a second base yarn for the manufacture of a basic knit fabric and a dyed yarn of a design, providing only one control for selecting the needles of the design at each feeding station of the machine and selecting the needles which must form the design such that each of the selected needles picks up and knits the dyed yarn of the design and the second base yarn dropping or discarding the first base yarn, while the remaining unselected needles pick up and knit the base yarns, discarding the dyed yarn of the design. The circular stocking knitting and knitting machine includes a selecting and controlling device for controlling selected needles of the design in order to raise these selected needles to a level higher than the remaining needles.

  • Patent number: 6189345
Abstract: A yarn-locking/cutting device for circular stocking knitting machines. The device includes two elements (16, 18), hanging from a support (17) which is arranged in a zone contained between the yarn guides and the cutting unit. The elements are inclined in the direction of rotation of the machine. One element is controlled and has a mouth for taking and for moving the yarn.

  • Patent number: 6158251
Abstract: A device is disclosed for positioning a knitting cam in circular knitting and stocking knitting machines. The knitting cam (11) is fixed to a slide (13), which can be moved on a support (15) by means of an eccentric ring rotated by a motor. The slide with knitting cam is provided with a first needle (18), resting on and following the eccentric inner profile of a second needle (19) resting on and following the outer surface of the eccentric ring (17) so as to move and position the slide in response to the rotation of the ring.

  • Patent number: 6109069
Abstract: The invention relates to a yarn guide unit particularly for circular double cylinder hosiery machines in which a yarn guide rod is borne on a block (16) eccentrically pivoted on a rotating disk (18) which can move between two extreme angular positions corresponding to the engaged working and disengaged positions of the yarn guides. Rotation of the disk with the block is brought about in one direction by a pneumatic actuator (28) incorporated in the block (16) and in the opposite direction by a return spring attached to the disk.

  • Patent number: 5960645
Abstract: A device for the selection of needles in circular stocking knitting machines, comprising a lower needle (or jack) having radial deflection for each needle on the cylinder of the said machine. Selection actuators are provided for the control of the lower needles. Each lower needle includes two components: an element oscillating between an inoperative position and the operating, vertically movable position in order to control the corresponding needle and to follow the courses of upward and downward movement cams; and a toothed element which is arranged facing the oscillating element, capable of oscillations with same, but prevented from moving vertically. The toothed element always remains at the level of the selection actuators even when the oscillating element moves vertically.

  • Patent number: 5899096
Abstract: A device for needle-by-needle selection in circular stocking knitting machines is disclosed. An elastic lock pin or segment (19) is provided for each lower needle (13) of the type having an elastic deflection tail. The segment is carried by a crown (22) fixed with the cylinder and usually in a position shifted downwards away from the tail of the lower needle. A thruster (20) is provided under the lock segment, which can be moved upwards and is intended to deflect the lock segment (19) up to the level of interception with the tail of the lower needle (13). This results in a locking of the lower needle in the deflected, inoperative position. A selection electromagnet (21) is provided which can be activated and deactivated according to a program to hold or release the lock segment. The activation/deactivation keeps the inoperative lower needle locked or releases it because it is moved towards the outside into the operating position.

  • Patent number: 5606876
Abstract: A process and device for picking up and transferring stockings from a stocking circular knitting machine to a sewing machine for closing the toe of the stockings. The device includes conveying units for taking hold of the stocking at two opposite zones of the knitted fabric at a level of the open toe. Structure for moving the stocking is provided between a position for picking up the stocking, within the circular machine, in a position outside of the circular machine. A holding structure is provided for taking hold of the stocking from the conveying units and maintaining a hold on the stocking for positioning the stocking with respect to the sewing machine, for closing the toe. The method is based on the steps of mechanically removing the stocking from the sewing machine based on picking up the stocking at two diametrically opposite locations and supporting the opposite parts during transfer, bringing the edges of the open toe together for sewing the toe edge.

  • Patent number: 5533365
Abstract: A device for cutting threads in circular stocking knitting machines, which includes a circular saw having teeth on its periphery and at least one knife. Each tooth of the saw has a cutting zone away from and moved back with respect to the front part. The front part is intended for gripping and dragging along the thread towards the knife. Between the front part and the cutting zone of each tooth, there is provided a notch or step, which is intended for holding a piece of thread without being intercepted by the knife. The cutting zone interacts with the knife for cutting the thread away from the front part, when the thread rests on the cutting zone.
