  • Patent number: 8039423
Abstract: Disclosed are a lubricant composition including a lubricating base oil, fine particles and a calcium sulfonate-based thickener, a speed reduction gear filled with the lubricant composition, and an electric power steering apparatus including the speed reduction gear. The invention reduces operating noise of the speed reduction gear, regardless of the amount of backlash that occurs on combining a small gear and a large gear and without a more complicated structure for the speed reduction gear, by action of the fine particles. Further, separation of oil is prevented, by action of the calcium sulfonate-based thickener of the lubricant composition, so that electric power steering apparatus noise within the inside of a car is reduced at a low cost.

  • Patent number: 7741256
Abstract: A lubricant composition contains poly-?-olefin oil having a kinematic viscosity of 1500 to 13000 mm 2/s (40° C.) as a base oil and from 45 to 50% by weight of a thickener composed of polytetrafluoroethylene. The lubricant composition may be used for lubricating an expandable shaft having a pair of shaft members filled with the lubricant composition to prevent stick-slip from occurring when a high surface pressure is applied thereto, thereby allowing consistent maintenance of good lubricating performance. Such an expandable shaft may be incorporated advantageously into a steering system as an intermediate shaft into an area between a steering shaft and a rack-and-pinion mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20090283353
Abstract: A novel lubricant composition is provided, which is free from an increase in consistency, separation of its lubricant base oil, and leakage of the separated lubricant base oil from a speed reduction gear or the like even if a stress is repeatedly applied to the composition over a long period of time. A speed reduction gear employing the lubricant composition, and an electric power steering apparatus are also provided. The lubricant composition employs at least two types of thickeners including lithium stearate in combination, and has a worked penetration of not less than 355 (at 25° C.). The speed reduction gear 50 is filled with the lubricant composition containing minute particles, and the electric power steering apparatus includes the speed reduction gear.

  • Patent number: 7452850
Abstract: Disclosed are a lubricant composition obtained by adding a buffer particles having an average particle diameter D1 of 50 ?m<D1?300 ?m to a lubricant, a speed reduction gear filled with the lubricant composition, and an electric power steering apparatus having the speed reduction gear incorporated therein, and noise produced in the speed reduction gear can be made lower than ever before irrespective of the magnitude of backlash in a case where a worm and a worm wheel are combined with each other and without complicating the configuration of the speed reduction gear by the buffer action of the buffer particles added to the lubricant composition, thereby making it possible to reduce noise produced in an automobile caused by the electric power steering apparatus at low cost.

  • Publication number: 20070264077
Abstract: Provided are a spline joint (1) where a section at which a male spline shaft (2) and a female spline shaft (3) mesh is filled with a lubricating agent composition containing a lubricating oil and buffer particles (B), and the lubricating agent composition. Impact caused by meshing of both spline shafts (2, 3) is buffered by the buffer particles (B) placed in the section at which both spline shafts (2, 3) mesh. As a result, chattering sound and sliding resistance can be stably reduced for a longer time without having wearing and peeling which occur in coating.

  • Patent number: 7215110
Abstract: A seal ring has an annular body which is constituted so that a disc section extended to a radially inward direction is overlapped with one end of a cylindrical section, and a sensor member for detecting rotation of an inner ring is provided to an outer periphery of the cylindrical section, and an outer case for covering the sensor member is provided by insert-forming. The outer case contracts after it is formed and is press-contact with the cylindrical section so that a gap is hardly generated.

  • Publication number: 20040233072
Abstract: An annular elastic magnetic body 3 as the magnetic member for a rotation detector contains hydrogenated nitrile rubber as base material and not more than 90 weight percent strontium-based ferrite as a magnetism imparting component. Therefore, the annular elastic magnetic body 3 has no cracks in a thermal shock test (with thermal shock between −40° C. and 150° C.) and resists harsh conditions on operating temperature. The magnetic member contains not less than 80 weight percent the strontium-based ferrite and therefore ensures a magnetic flux density required for a rotation detector. Thus, the magnetic member for a rotation detector is resistant to harsh conditions on operating temperature and has a stable magnetic property.
