Patent number: 5283026Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for molding an agglomerated preform of a fiber-reinforced composite material comprising a resin material as a matrix and reinforcing fibers dispersed therein, into a desired shape. In the molding method, the preform is heated from the interior thereof, whereby the temperature of the entire preform can be raised efficiently and uniformly. If an optional number of holes are formed in the agglomerated preform, rod-like heaters for heating or gas nozzles for the release of heated gas can be inserted into the preform easily through such holes, whereby uniform heating can be effected. Further, by incorporating an appropriate amount of a dielectric loss improver into the preform and thereafter subjecting the preform to high-frequency heating or microwave heating, the preform can be heated efficiently and uniformly in a short time.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1991Date of Patent: February 1, 1994Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko ShoInventors: Toshiaki Okumura, Takao Ekimoto, Kourou Takatsuka, Ryosaku Kadowaki, Ryuichiro Kato, Masahiro Tomita, Katsumi Ogawa, Kimio Inoue, Fumiaki Komatsu, Atsushi Takusagawa

Patent number: 5063001Abstract: A method of compacting radioactive metal wastes comprising enclosing the radioactive metal waste in vacuo in a capsule, placing the capsule into a pressure container, and subjecting the capsule to an increased pressure at a high temperature to compact the waste. The compacting treatment is conducted in a state in which the atmosphere within the pressure container contains water molecules in an amount, in terms of the total weight W (g) thereof, the amount being preferably in the range of:1.3.times.10.sup.-6 .times.V.ltoreq.Wwherein V (cm.sup.3) is the volume of the compacting space in the pressure container. Alternatively, an oxide coating is formed on the outer surface of the capsule before the capsule is placed into the pressure container, or the formation of the oxide coating is followed by the compacting treatment conducted in the above-mentioned state.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho, Doryokuro Kakunenryo Kaihatsu JigyodanInventors: Hidehiko Miyao, Satoshi Ikeda, Masao Shiotsuki, Shigeyoshi Kawamura, Fumiaki Komatsu, Ikuji Takagi, Tadamiti Sakai

Patent number: 4929394Abstract: A process for compacting radioactive waste by precompressing the waste in each of capsules while filling the waste into the capsule to thereby compress the waste to the desired bulk/true density ratio under a small total pressing load and diminish damage to the inner surface of the die used, each of the capsules having a cross sectional form corresponding to a divided segment of the cross section of an HIP treatment container, then placing the capsules into the HIP treatment container, subsequently filling the HIP treatment container with a metal powder as a filler, thereafter degassing and sealing the HIP treatment container and subjecting the container to an HIP treatment in its entirety. The process precludes scattering of the radioactive substance from the waste and release of waste fragments to assure improved safety.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1989Date of Patent: May 29, 1990Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho, Doryokuro Kakunenryo Kaihatsu JigyodanInventors: Kazuo Kitagawa, Fumiaki Komatsu, Takayoshi Masaki, Yoshihisa Sawada, Eiichi Inada, Masao Shiatsuki
