Abstract: A digital broadcast receiver with a noise suppressing function which can effectively suppress noise components included in a reception signal without being accompanied with an auditory uneasiness for the user. A level of noises included in the reception signal is detected, one or more of a plurality of noise suppressing circuits of different functions are properly combined in accordance with a situation of the detection, and a noise suppressing process is executed. The combination is changed step by step in accordance with the noise level. In another example, the control is made on the basis of an attenuation value of a reception field intensity.

Abstract: A radio receiver has an antenna circuit, a high-frequency amplifier, a tuned circuit, a mixer for generating a first intermediate frequency signal, and an AGC circuit applied with an output signal of the radio receiver for controlling a gain of the receiver. An intermodulation predicting circuit is provided. The intermodulation predicting circuit has a high-frequency amplifier applied with an output of the radio receiver, and a mixer for generating a second intermediate frequency signal. The intermodulation predicting circuit has a dynamic range smaller than that of the radio receiver. Therefore an intermodulation prediction signal based on a received broadcasting signal is produced earlier than a response to the received broadcasting signal at the radio receiver.

Abstract: A tuner has an intermediate-frequency amplifier and an automatic gain control which are connected to form a loop. A detector is connected to an input side of the intermediate-frequency amplifier so as to be applied with a signal to be applied to the intermediate-frequency amplifier. A logarithmic amplifier is provided for producing an output for logarithmic display on a signal meter.
