  • Patent number: 6144812
Abstract: A memory is provided in an electrophotographic process cartridge to be mounted on a printer, and an area in the memory is separated into a read-only area and a rewritable area. In this structure, a data error in the memory is checked. If an error in the read-only area is detected, an alarm is displayed and a print operation is prohibited. On the other hand, if an error in the rewritable area is detected, the alarm is displayed and the print operation is permitted.

  • Patent number: 6072965
Abstract: In a multicolor image forming apparatus constructed of a printer controller and a printer engine, such as a laser beam printer, and the like, after confirming the reception of a proper ID command from the printer controller, the printer engine enters a printable state. Before the ID of the printer controller is checked, by checking an attachment situation of the printer controller at the time of turning on of a power supply, and the like, the attachment situation of the printer controller is discriminated. When the printer engine is not attached, the ID check is skipped and only an engine test print by an engine test print switch is enabled.

  • Patent number: 5678132
Abstract: An image forming apparatus forms a patch image on a recording medium, irradiates the patch image formed on the recording medium with light, and detects a quantity of light reflected by the patch image and outputs a first detection signal. The apparatus detects a quantity of light emitted by a light emission source and outputs a second detection signal, and amplifies the first detection signal in accordance with a first amplification gain and outputs a first amplified signal. The apparatus amplifies the second detection signal in accordance with a second amplification gain and outputs a second amplified signal, and controls image forming conditions based on the first amplified signal or the second amplified signal. An adjustment mode is executed prior to controlling the image forming conditions, and the first amplification gain is controlled when the patch image is formed with black toner, and the second amplification gain is controlled when the patch image is formed with color toner.

  • Patent number: 5629781
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an image forming and processing apparatus having a plurality of storage device capable of forming an image at a high speed by reading image data in parallel. Since a predetermined quantity of image data is stored in a plurality of hard discs, and the image data is read from the hard discs to a double buffer in parallel, an image can be formed continuously at a high speed. Another structure is arranged in a manner such that images are stored in hard discs of an optional number and the images are transmitted to a printer engine by using a FIFO (First In First Out) buffer which corresponds to the hard discs. Therefore, an image can be transmitted continuously at a high speed asynchronously with the printer output.

  • Patent number: 5457487
Abstract: A color image forming apparatus forms a color image by superposing images of plural colors in plane-sequential manner. In the color image forming apparatus, the amount of aberration between the detection signal for the recording medium for the first color and the horizontal synchronization signal is measured by a counter, and the start timing of image formation of the second and subsequent colors is controlled by a delay device, according to the measured amount of aberration.
