  • Patent number: 6590626
Abstract: A liquid crystal display which comprises a light guide 2 placed at the back of a liquid crystal display panel 1; a first fluorescent tube 3 disposed along at least one side of the light guide 2; a second fluorescent tube 4 disposed adjacent to the first fluorescent tube 3; and a shielding component 5 for shielding an incoming light directly entering from the second fluorescent tube 4 into the first fluorescent tube 3, to reduce a deterioration of luminance that can occur in a backlight for a liquid crystal display panel.

    Inventors: Masaru Suzuki, Fumihisa Hanzawa
  • Patent number: 6559908
Abstract: A liquid crystal display is described having a front frame, a rear frame and a light source, in which the rear frame and light source may be easily removed from the front frame. The arrangement also permits frame narrowing in the liquid crystal display. A diffusion plate is set between the front frame and the rear frame; lamps are set in the rear frame facing the diffusion plate. Side faces of the front frame and the rear frame are fastened together by removable fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6522543
Abstract: A first heat-conductive rubber is disposed on a surface of a printed wiring film, which is an opposite side to a driver IC, a second heat-conductive rubber is disposed on a surface of the driver IC, which is an opposite side to the surface of the printed wiring film, and the first heat-conductive rubber is made harder than the second heat-conductive rubber. In addition, heat-conductive grease is coated on a surface of the first heat-conductive rubber, which contacts the printed wiring film, and on a surface of the second heat-conductive rubber, which contacts the driver IC.

  • Patent number: 6055029
Abstract: Since a backlighting apparatus 1 for liquid crystal display is constituted such that a light guiding plate 2 and a frame 3 are molded together as a single unit provided with a deformation relaxation design, an attaching unit and parts, such as attaching feet and screws, for attaching the light guiding plate 2 to the frame 3 are not required, thereby making it possible to reduce the thickness and size of the backlighting apparatus 1 for liquid crystal display which has been restricted by the sizes of these parts.

  • Patent number: 5600462
Abstract: The liminance within the viewing angle of an LCD device is increased by using an optical film of transparent material. The film has a first surface having a wave structure including a plurality of isosceles triangle prisms arranged side-by-side, and a second surface having an optically rough structure for performing diffuse transmission. The film may also have a first surface having a structure including a plurality of quadrangular prisms arranged side-by-side, and a second surface having an optically rough structure for performing diffuse transmission.
