Abstract: An image processing system, comprising an image reading section for reading an original image and sequentially generating image data corresponding to the original image, and for discriminately recognizing a plurality of original image types and generating recognition signals corresponding to one of the plurality of original image types, the one being the image type of the original image read by the image reading means, image processing section for determining a data structure for the image data according to the recognition signals, and for storing and retrieving the image data according to the sequence in which the image data was generated and, image recording section for producing a plurality of copy image types corresponding to the plurality of copy image types.

Abstract: An image processing system receives different types of image data with different number of bits per pixel, stores the image data into a memory, and applies given image processing steps to the image data stored therein. A control device is included in the image processing system. The control device determines the positions of pixels to be image processed, the number of pixels of one line, and the number of lines. For each line a least common multiple (LCM) of the number of bits of the pixel (B.sub.m) and the number of bits per access of the image data used in the image processing system (B.sub.0) is calculated, and the control device executes preset image processing programs under the determined conditions.

Abstract: An image processing assembly combines a first input of copied image data and a second input of electronic data from a word processor, personal computer, or the like. A selector alternately inputs the image data and electronic data to a storage device. A control device compares the resolution and orientation of the two types of data to each other. Where the resolution does not match, the resolution of one type of data is converted to the resolution of the other type of data. Where the orientation does not match, one type of data is rotated to match the orientation of the other type of data. The properly converted and oriented data are combined and printed out.
