  • Publication number: 20050106034
Abstract: A compressor has a suction chamber and a discharge chamber, and compresses refrigerant gas. The compressor includes a cover housing having an inner wall surface. The inner wall surface defines at least one of the suction chamber and the discharge chamber. A heat insulating member covers the inner wall surface. A flow restraining member restrains refrigerant gas from flowing between the heat insulating member and the inner wall surface. Hence, the adiabatic efficiency increases in at least one of the suction chamber and the discharge chamber within the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20030017909
Abstract: A torque limiter to be operatively coupled to an engine is secured to the outer periphery of a driving shaft through screwing-engagement. The driving shaft and the torque limiter are screw-engaged and fixed to each other so that the torque limiter is pushed or urged against a seating face formed at the outer periphery of the driving shaft. The seating face abuts against the torque limiter restricting the screwing-movement of the driving shaft. Rotation force is transmitted between the driving shaft and the torque limiter via the seating face. A cylindrical member is disposed between the torque limiter and the seating face of the driving shaft. The cylindrical member is press-fitted and fixed to the outer periphery of the driving shaft, so that the power transmission between the driving shaft and the torque limiter is also performed through the press-fit portion between the cylindrical member and the driving shaft.

  • Publication number: 20020117537
Abstract: A hollow piston for use in a compressor includes a first piece and a second piece. The first piece has a skirt, which is to be engaged with a swash plate, and a cylindrical portion. The second piece is coupled to the first piece to cover an opening formed in one end of the cylindrical portion. A work includes a pair of the symmetrically arranged first pieces, which are coupled to each other at the skirts. The work is held against rotation about its axis and against axial movement. In this state, the second pieces are friction welded to the ends of the work. During friction welding, the second pieces are rotated in the opposite directions while being simultaneously pressed against the opened ends of the hollow cylindrical portions. As a result, deformation of the produced pistons is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6382938
Abstract: A compressor that reduces pressure pulsation includes a mounting member for attaching the compressor to a vehicle support. The mounting member is integrally formed with an end wall of a rear housing member. A suction chamber and a discharge chamber are defined in the rear housing member. The discharge chamber is located outside the suction chamber and surrounds the suction chamber. An auxiliary chamber is formed in the mounting member. The auxiliary chamber is centrally located. The auxiliary chamber increases the volume of the suction chamber, which reduces pulsation. Since the auxiliary chamber is formed in the mounting member, neither the weight or the volume of parts that might interfere with other devices is increased.

  • Publication number: 20010047720
Abstract: A hollow piston has an end wall that receives pressure in a cylinder bore of a compressor. A reinforcing protrusion is formed on the inner end face of the end wall. The contour of the protrusion, from the radially outside portion toward the radially inside portion, first approaches the outer end face and then departs from the outer end face. Therefore, the piston is light and strong.
