  • Patent number: 8488179
Abstract: When a quantity of light of a liquid crystal back light falls below a predetermined value, a detecting section of an input device outputs to a first control section a failure-detected signal indicating that a failure occurred in the liquid crystal back light of an operation panel. When a touched area is inputted from a touch panel after the failure-detected signal was inputted, the first control section, referring to a failure time table, transmits setting information corresponding to a display area that includes the touched area to a second control section of an image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8032041
Abstract: A pair of registration rollers are provided upstream in a paper transport path from an image forming position, and a paper transport position detection portion is provided upstream in the paper transport path from the pair of registration rollers. When consecutive print processing on a plurality of sheets of paper is performed, a paper transport position in the paper transport path is detected by the paper transport position detection portion for a sheet of paper that has been set in advance among the plurality of sheets of paper. A correction amount of a position for image writing to a photosensitive drum is determined based on the paper transport position, and correction of the image writing position is performed based on the correction amount.

  • Publication number: 20080203654
Abstract: A paper multi-feed detection apparatus and a paper multi-feed detection method are provided for preventing the detection capability from being deteriorated by a noise factor and improving the detection precision even where an area around the feeding path has no extra space in terms of the shape and there are many noise-generating factors because of a demand for a smaller size of the device. An ultrasonic transmission opening formed in one of two feeding guide plates is large so as to discharge outside a reflected wave which returns through the ultrasonic transmission opening, and an ultrasonic receiving opening formed in the other feeding guide plate is smaller than a receiving face area of a receiver for receiving the ultrasonic wave.

  • Patent number: 6483598
Abstract: An image processing portion for conducting the specified processing of an image to be reproduced by an image forming portion based on the processed image data is constructed as a single control portion. Consequently, the development of a variety of digital copying machines requires preparation of specially designated control boards according to levels of the products. This makes machines expensive and requires users to pay a considerable initial cost.

  • Patent number: 5644411
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a joining-portion processing section for combining partial images that have been read in a divided manner. Focused on partial document data predeterminately specified among a plurality of partial document data stored in an image memory, the joint-portion processing section performs a recognizing operation on the joints, a positioning operation and other operations beginning with the proximity of the specified partial document data. The partial images are then combined together to form one complete image. For example, in the case of copying an original document, which is of a size too large to be copied in one operation, on one sheet of paper in a reduced manner, it becomes possible to eliminate time consuming tasks such as trimming and pasting of the partial documents as well as calculating of the reduction rate.
