  • Patent number: 5484227
Abstract: Efficient paving operation requires that the levelling operation of asphalt be carried out accurately along a reference line which follows a given direction along a roadside. A simple and effective automatic control device for controlling the steering direction in conjunction with adjustments of the screed for an asphalt finisher (shortened to finisher) is presented. The control device automatically regulates the extension or retraction of the screeds on both sides of the finisher in reference to a visual display of the reference line following some objects along the roadside. The visual detection system of control is simple and economical and provides an accurate control over the direction of paving.

  • Patent number: 5460873
Abstract: A composite cover material to be used for making an integrally foamed article comprises a permeable fabric (10) and a thin layer of latex foam (15) strongly bonded via bonding zone (17) to said fabric. The latex foam layer (15) is made by applying high molecular latex material such as rubbers or synthetic resins as coating to back surface (12) of said fabric, and permitting said latex material to foam and cure. The latex foam has relatively fine mechanical open cells (18) in its internal part and further finer open cells (20) near its outer surface skin (22) which is permeable by virtue of minute holes (21) formed therein. The skin (22), though permeable by minutes holes, can serve as substantially flat and smooth barrier surface against liquid foamable mixtures poured directly onto said skin for making body foam (25) so as to guide slidingly said mixtures therealong and also prevent substantial impregnation into said latex foam.

  • Patent number: 5403431
Abstract: A label feed pitch change-over mechanism for a labeler comprising a pitch change-over section equipped with stops and disposed at the bottom of the labeler to be slidable in the longitudinal direction thereof. A claw reciprocator for engaging the backing strip of a continuous label strip and drawing the continuous label strip from a roll. Gears mechanically linked with a hand-operated lever for driving the claw reciprocator. The gears are provided with cams engageable with the stops. The label feed pitch of the claw reciprocator can be shifted between short and long pitch states by sliding the pitch change-over section to bring the stops into or out of engagement with the cams.

  • Patent number: 5393167
Abstract: A measuring arm (12) is attached to a frame (5a) supporting a screed (5). Height sensors (13) and (14) are attached to the measuring arm (12), and a height sensor (19) is also attached to the arm (18) of the screed (5). The spacing must remain constant between the rear end of the screed (5) and the height sensor (19), between the height sensor (19) and the height sensor (14), and between the height sensor (14) and the height sensor (13). A distance sensor to calculate the travel distance is provided on the tractor unit (1). The relative height Ho of both height sensors (13) and (14) to the screed (5) must always remain constant, regardless of the tilt of the screed (5) and the measuring arm (12). The sensors (13), and (14), and (17) are connected to the arithmetic unit (30). The height sensor (19) is connected to the arithmetic unit (40). The arithmetic unit (30) receives an output signal from the height sensors (13) and (14) and calculates the thickness of the pavement.

  • Patent number: 4904318
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the manufacture of a diaphragm from a fabric-containing sheet (material). The fabric-containing sheet produced by an extrusion molding machine in a width which is a multiple of the diameter of diaphragms to be manufactured is continuously fed in fixed pitches to a press vulcanizing device and an punching device, to permit automation of the manufacture of diaphragms and an appreciable reduction in the number of steps. This method, thus, improves the yield of materials used, permits down sizing of the production equipment, and reduces the motive power consumption.

  • Patent number: 4883632
Abstract: A method for shaping thermoplastic fabrics such as those made of polyester or polyamide fibers into desired three dimensional configurations through a simple procedure. Thermoplastic fabrics are immersed into hot liquid metallic bath made of eutectic metals such as lead, tin, cadmium, zinc and bismuth and formulated to have the eutectic point at least equal to or higher than the softening point of the thermoplastic fibers and lower than the melting point of the fibers. This metallic bath may be called "fluidic lower mold." The thermoplastic fabrics are immersed into the fluidic lower mold by means of an upper mold or core member having desired outer configurations substantially corresponding to those of final products, for example, headrest or seat cushion. The upper mold pushes down the fabric preferably along with a protective sheet laid beneath the fabric into the metallic bath.

  • Patent number: 4384525
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a code plate device for a label printing and applying machine having a platen, a fixed hand grip, a hinged hand lever opposable to the hand grip, and a printing device carried on a printing lever extending from the hand lever so that the printing device is brought into and out of engagement with the platen, respectively, when the hand lever is squeezed and released. The code plate device includes a body having a guiding dovetail element which is removably fitted into a dovetail shaped engagement groove on the printing lever so that the code plate device can be detachably slid into attachment with the printing lever. The dovetail connection is oriented so that the code plate device is slid into position laterally of the machine. There is a foldable knob which is hingedly attached to the code plate body so that it can be extended straight for being grasped to enable attachment or detachment of the code plate device or can be folded up for moving the knob out of the way.

  • Patent number: 4382835
Abstract: A composite label arranging device is disclosed wherein a composite label having a layer of label material superposed on a layer of backing material, with feed flaps formed in both layers, is engaged with feed pins of a feed roller, by which the feed flaps are forced upright. The feed roller intermittently rotates in synchronism with the operation of a hand lever for advancement of the label on a platen. A label arranging member is disposed in opposition to the platen so as to descend during the squeezing operation of the hand lever and press against and thereby flatten the upright flaps.
