    Abstract: A four-wheeled utility vehicle has a body frame; a driver's seat disposed on the body frame; a load-carrying platform having a front end portion and a rear end portion, the load-carrying platform disposed behind the driver's seat; a cabin frame having a rear portion and surrounding the driver's seat. The cabin frame is disposed in front of the load-carrying platform. The rear portion includes a lower end which is positioned on a level below the load-carrying platform and a middle portion which is located on a middle level in a vertical direction within the rear portion. The lower end of the rear portion is joined to the body frame. The middle portion of the rear portion is bound by the front end portion of the load-carrying platform in an easily separable manner.

    Abstract: A utility vehicle has a load-carrying platform, a pair of side plates, a gate, a pair of gate locking bolts each capable of engaging the side plate to hold the gate in the closed state, and a pair of handles each connected to the gate locking bolt. The gate locking bolt is axially movable in lateral directions between a locking position and a retracted position, and is biased toward the locking position by a spring. The gate locking bolt is capable of being urged toward the retracted position by the side plate when the gate is turned to be closed. The gate locking bolt is capable of being moved to the retracted position by operating the handle.

A cabin frame is mounted around a driver's seat and an engine is placed under the load carrying platform behind the driver's seat. A bonnet extends in front of the driver's seat, the bonnet being opening away from and closed toward the driver's seat. A storage case having an open, upper portion is provided to be closed by the bonnet. The storage case bonnet prevents the entry of rainwater into the storage case in spite of the large dimensions of the storage case, and permits inserting and withdrawing articles easily from the storage case from the driver's seat.

    Abstract: A steering system for a straddle type four-wheeled all terrain vehicle comprises a steering shaft, a first stopping mechanism combined with a lower end part of the steering shaft, and a second stopping mechanism combined with an upper end of the steering shaft. The first stopping mechanism comprises a first shaft-side stopper including a base plate welded to a part of the steering shaft near the lower end of the steering shaft so that the opposite side parts thereof project on the right and the left side of the steering shaft, and adjusting bolts fixed to the opposite side parts of the base plate, and a first frame-side stopper attached to a body frame of the vehicle and provided with a stopping projection. The second stopping mechanism comprises a second shaft-side stopper similar to the first and a second frame-side stopper including an upper bracket fixed to the frame of the all-terrain vehicle.

    Abstract: To provide foot boards which allow a rider to take a convenient position regardless of the rider's physique. In a four wheeled all-terrain vehicle having a body frame provided with substantially platelike foot board members for rider's resting feet at a lower position on both sides thereof, with a brake pedal being disposed to be depressed freely above an opening of one of the foot board members. A plurality of foot support members with the top surface thereof having an undulating configuration along the longitudinal direction thereof are disposed at intervals on the foot board members rearward the brake pedal for securely supporting the rider's foot. The foot support members are installed on the other foot board in a symmetrical configuration with respect to the center line of the vehicle body. Slip preventing members are positioned on the foot boards adjacent the foot support members to assist in maintaining the rider's feet on the foot boards.

An accessory socket is disposed inside the handlebar cover and is held on the bracket. An accessory plug electrically connected to an external electric apparatus can be inserted inside the handlebar cover through a recess formed in a side wall of the handlebar cover and can be connected to the accessory socket. A battery is electrically connected to the accessory socket.

    Abstract: An air intake system for a utility vehicle powered by an engine (8) located near the driver's seat (6) and which drives one or more wheels (3) of the vehicle via a belt converter (13) comprises a hollow open ended and generally rectangular frame (10) disposed with one of its lower ends (10a) connected to the air intake (Ie) of the engine and the other lower end (10b) connected to the air intake (Ib) port (22) for cooling the belt converter, and an air intake (S) in an upper part of the frame. Such a system results in less dust and dirt being drawn into the air intakes and reduces air pulsing and thereby improves engine performance.
