Patent number: 5970793Abstract: An angular velocity sensor including a tuning-fork sensor element made of a material exhibiting piezoelectricity to have two arms formed integrally on a base and electrodes provided on surfaces of the arms. The free end of each arm is formed with an extension projecting outward in the direction of arm vibration. The surfaces of the arms lying in the direction of vibration and the surfaces thereof lying orthogonal to these surfaces are each provided with a single electrode. When the angular velocity sensor experiences an angular velocity owing to rotation about an axis orthogonal to the plane of the tuning fork, Coriolis forces act on the arms in the same direction as or the opposite direction from that of the vibration at that instant, thereby producing a bending moment. The direction and magnitude of the angular velocity can be determined by detecting the voltages produced by the bending moment.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1997Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.Inventor: Fumio Nakajima

Patent number: 5557168Abstract: A panel-shaped gas-discharging type display device includes an anode and a cathode having a special shape to enhance discharging in an airtight chamber formed by two substrates. A gas containing an ultraviolet emission gas such as Xe and Kr and a fluophor for emitting a light are put together into the airtight chamber. Because of the shape of the cathode, more discharging occurs than with conventional devices. More ultraviolet emission from the discharging excites the fluophor to create a visible radiation. Therefore, the brightness of the device increases. Since the cathode is coated with an emitter material incapable of absorbing the ultraviolet emission gas, discharging is not obstructed by reduction of the ultraviolet emission gas, and the color of the visible radiation is stably maintained.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Okaya Electric Industries Co., Ltd.Inventors: Fumio Nakajima, Satoshi Watanabe

Patent number: 4558244Abstract: The present invention provides a micro stepping motor for more accurately stepping and positioning a magnetic head in a magnetic disc system. The stepping motor has a permanent magnet type rotor and a stator encircling the rotor, the rotor having a plurality of pole teeth formed therein with a fine pitch and the stator also having a plurality of pole teeth formed therein with a fine pitch and disposed opposed to the pole teeth in the rotor, the stator pole teeth being divided into at least one pair of pole tooth groups which are out of phase relative to each other by an electrical angle of 180 degrees. A single common stator coil is provided to the pair of stator pole tooth groups. Thus, the stepping pitch of the rotor is determined by the pitch in the pole tooth groups, whereby the rotor can steppingly be driven with higher density even by the reduced number of stator coils.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1984Date of Patent: December 10, 1985Assignee: Citizen Watch Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akira Nikaido, Takayasu Machida, Yasuhisa Hirosawa, Fumio Nakajima

Patent number: 4186305Abstract: The present invention relates to a high-temperature microscope. According to this invention, a specimen is held in vacuum with one side of it heated through exposure to an electron beam and the other side of it observed through an observation window.A curtain of inert gas is formed between the specimen and the observation window to prevent the window from being clouded, i.e., to prevent vapor deposit on the window from the specimen.Visual observation (including photography) and measurement of the specimen temperature by heat radiation therefrom are done individually with different bands of wavelengths. For the purpose of illuminating the specimen, beams of spectral distribution containing the components of in the visible band for observation are used but no components of the temperature-measuring band are utilized as light source. For the purpose of visual observation, a narrow visible band contained in the aforesaid beam located in low brightness in the heat radiation beams from the specimen is utilized.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1978Date of Patent: January 29, 1980Assignee: Union Kogaku Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tadami Taoka, Fumio Nakajima, Hisashki Kawamura, Yutaka Hirano, Kimio Maru, Kazutoshi Arita, Hidemasa Yoshida
