Abstract: A load balancing system having a plurality of service servers and a load balancer which prevents a service performance from being reduced by an overload of requests on the service servers. The system includes a load balancer and a administration server, the load balancer outputs an access log relating to an access to the service server, and the administration server performs statistical operation over the access log. The administration server prepares a service server run schedule on the basis of a result of the statistical operation and informs the load balancer of it. The load balancer controls distribution of a request to the service server according to the informed run schedule.

Abstract: A proxy server for storing contents data extracted from a contents packet received from a stream server as cache data of stream contents into a cache file and transferring the received packet to a contents requester after rewriting the address of the received packet, having a function for requesting the stream server to stop providing service of the stream contents and requesting another proxy server to transfer the remaining portion of the stream contents.

Abstract: A proxy processing method to flexibly add/modify customized operations, such as customized user authentication and accounting, is provided. A state transition engine stores state information and moves processing forward by updating states. It has the following characteristics. (1) a state transition table indicating a proxy processing procedure is generated from a state definition file at start-up (i-(i)). (2) A state transition engine implements proxy processing according to the state transition table (1-(2)). (3) A feature is provided to add an extended region for extended features to the session management table. (1(3)). Also, with regard to extended logging: (1) An extended log definition file indicates extended log information to be logged (2-(1)). (2) Extended log information based on the extended log definition is stored in the session management table (2-(2)). (3) Each access log provides two types of separate information, a fixed-length standard log and a variable-length extended log.

Abstract: To lower risks of overhead on management of an access log and of a loss of the access log due to a default and to prevent deterioration in service providing performance caused by access concentration to a specific Web server in an access relaying apparatus including a plurality of proxy servers. An access relaying apparatus has a plurality of proxy servers 23, an administration server 24 for statistic processing, and a shared disk 25 accessible from them. Each of the proxy servers outputs an access log to the shared disk, and the administration server reads the access logs from the shared disk and performs statistic processing. An access limit to a specific Web server is determined based on a result of the statistic processing, it is notified to each of the proxy servers, and a number of accesses to the Web server is controlled.

In response to a service request, the data relaying apparatus establishes a connection from the client apparatus to the server apparatus (destination). The data relaying apparatus relays data communication between the client apparatus and the server apparatus by using the established connection. The data relaying apparatus manages a number of connections established to each of the server apparatuses. In response to a service request, the data relaying apparatus accepts or refuses the service request so as to make a number of connections to the server apparatus equal to or less than a predetermined number, and notifies a user refused relaying of a service request that relaying is possible.

The system can offer the stable service even in the case of an access from the client and also can offer a preferential service under certain conditions. The request from the client to the server is carried out via a data communication forwarding apparatus, the apparatus has a unit for queuing the request with a priority and has a unit for changing the forwarding sequence of the request according to the priority. Thereby the number of simultaneous requests to the server can be suppressed to within the processing ability of the server with the stable service. Further, the request can be preferentially processed according to the user, transaction, wait time, etc.

Abstract: A congestion control system provided in a connection portion between a network for an Internet provider and the Internet estimates a processing capability of a Web server on the basis of states of TCP/IP such as a window size of connection being connected, a cancellation rate of packet, a response time, a throughput and the like in a congestion state of the Web server to be requested and a network to the Web server and calculates a regulation duration for each Web server on the basis of the processing capability and the number of clients being in a waiting state for a re-request to the Web server so that the client is regulated when a response for regulating the re-request with the regulation duration is returned to the client. Consequently, since the number of re-requests per unit time can be made fixed, congestion due to re-requests can be prevented and the user can necessarily utilize the Web server upon re-request.
