  • Publication number: 20050102400
Abstract: A load balancing system having a plurality of service servers and a load balancer which prevents a service performance from being reduced by an overload of requests on the service servers. The system includes a load balancer and a administration server, the load balancer outputs an access log relating to an access to the service server, and the administration server performs statistical operation over the access log. The administration server prepares a service server run schedule on the basis of a result of the statistical operation and informs the load balancer of it. The load balancer controls distribution of a request to the service server according to the informed run schedule.

  • Patent number: 6847975
Abstract: A proxy processing method to flexibly add/modify customized operations, such as customized user authentication and accounting, is provided. A state transition engine stores state information and moves processing forward by updating states. It has the following characteristics. (1) a state transition table indicating a proxy processing procedure is generated from a state definition file at start-up (i-(i)). (2) A state transition engine implements proxy processing according to the state transition table (1-(2)). (3) A feature is provided to add an extended region for extended features to the session management table. (1(3)). Also, with regard to extended logging: (1) An extended log definition file indicates extended log information to be logged (2-(1)). (2) Extended log information based on the extended log definition is stored in the session management table (2-(2)). (3) Each access log provides two types of separate information, a fixed-length standard log and a variable-length extended log.

  • Publication number: 20040111492
Abstract: To lower risks of overhead on management of an access log and of a loss of the access log due to a default and to prevent deterioration in service providing performance caused by access concentration to a specific Web server in an access relaying apparatus including a plurality of proxy servers. An access relaying apparatus has a plurality of proxy servers 23, an administration server 24 for statistic processing, and a shared disk 25 accessible from them. Each of the proxy servers outputs an access log to the shared disk, and the administration server reads the access logs from the shared disk and performs statistic processing. An access limit to a specific Web server is determined based on a result of the statistic processing, it is notified to each of the proxy servers, and a number of accesses to the Web server is controlled.

  • Publication number: 20040078426
Abstract: In a service system including client apparatuses for issuing a service request and server apparatuses for receiving a service request and providing service, there is provided a data relaying apparatus for relaying data communication between them. In response to a service request, the data relaying apparatus establishes a connection from the client apparatus to the server apparatus (destination). The data relaying apparatus relays data communication between the client apparatus and the server apparatus by using the established connection. The data relaying apparatus manages a number of connections established to each of the server apparatuses. In response to a service request, the data relaying apparatus accepts or refuses the service request so as to make a number of connections to the server apparatus equal to or less than a predetermined number, and notifies a user refused relaying of a service request that relaying is possible.

  • Publication number: 20030191798
Abstract: In communication between communication terminals utilizing a network, a communication apparatus that receives and interprets service contents information described by a tag-type language or the like and performs processing in accordance with the interpretation thereof is disposed between the communication terminals. The communication apparatus can combine a plurality of processing operations in accordance with the described contents of the information to be implemented and can make various service designs. Further, the communication apparatus is characterized to acquire a program for updating a processing method definition connecting the service contents information and the processing operations by means of the Internet so that the processing method definition of the apparatuses distributed dispersedly can be modified promptly and the whole system can cope with modification of service contents promptly.

  • Publication number: 20030188013
Abstract: A service system in which a server offers a service in response to a request from a client. The system can offer the stable service even in the case of an access from the client and also can offer a preferential service under certain conditions. The request from the client to the server is carried out via a data communication forwarding apparatus, the apparatus has a unit for queuing the request with a priority and has a unit for changing the forwarding sequence of the request according to the priority. Thereby the number of simultaneous requests to the server can be suppressed to within the processing ability of the server with the stable service. Further, the request can be preferentially processed according to the user, transaction, wait time, etc.

  • Publication number: 20030099197
Abstract: A congestion control system provided in a connection portion between a network for an Internet provider and the Internet estimates a processing capability of a Web server on the basis of states of TCP/IP such as a window size of connection being connected, a cancellation rate of packet, a response time, a throughput and the like in a congestion state of the Web server to be requested and a network to the Web server and calculates a regulation duration for each Web server on the basis of the processing capability and the number of clients being in a waiting state for a re-request to the Web server so that the client is regulated when a response for regulating the re-request with the regulation duration is returned to the client. Consequently, since the number of re-requests per unit time can be made fixed, congestion due to re-requests can be prevented and the user can necessarily utilize the Web server upon re-request.

  • Patent number: 6567828
Abstract: In order to perform format conversion between the formats of a plurality of files without any work by a user, a file system stores a relation between a conversion originating file and a conversion destination file, and synchronously with an issue of a file operation API, the format conversion processes are executed. A user performs only the tasks essential for an application, without taking into consideration various necessary format conversions (either one-step or multi-step). During the user task, it is not necessary to designate a conversion originating file and a timing of format conversion. A user can use always a latest conversion destination file.

  • Patent number: 6256747
Abstract: In order to effectively make the grasp of operating conditions of a plurality of servers and a cache management in an information system without increasing a time/labor taken by an administrator, the plurality of servers forms a multi-cast hierarchy dynamically reconstructed by virtue of mutual support and the communication of server status, cache directory and validation is performed on the hierarchy. The administrator has not a need of management for cooperation between servers excepting the designation of some other servers for startup thereof. A cache between servers is shared through the exchange of a cache directory and a validation time is reduced, thereby shortening the response time for users.
