  • Publication number: 20080068962
Abstract: The occurrence of fragments is suppressed in an index file that manages individual contents files recorded on a recording medium. On an optical disk 2, a contents file and an index file that manages each of the contents files are recorded. The index file is formed of attribute information of each of the contents files (including text data of a title, thumbnail image data and so on). When a predetermined contents file is recorded on the optical disk 2, a microcomputer 19 updates an index file so as to register this predetermined contents file in the index file. In this case, the microcomputer 19 secures a predetermined number of continuous slots in fixed length in the index file, and allocates attribute information of this predetermined contents file to the slots. For example, a predetermined number is set to the maximum number of the slots, or to the average number of the slots to be predicted for use in order to register the contents file.

  • Publication number: 20070263102
Abstract: Image information regarding image data recorded on a storage medium is efficiently recorded, regardless of a storage medium type. Thumbnail files 600 to 609 hold thumbnail slots 620 to 629, respectively. Each of the thumbnail slots 620 to 629 holds, as a thumbnail, a representative image of corresponding image data. Text files 700 to 709 hold text slots 720 to 729, respectively. Each of the text slots 720 to 729 holds text information regarding corresponding image data. An attribute file 509 holds an attribute file header 519 and an attribute slot 529. The thumbnail slots 620 to 629 and the text files 700 to 709 are referred to from the attribute slot 529.

  • Publication number: 20070260618
Abstract: Content files and an index file for managing the content files are recorded in a recording medium. The index file includes, for example, a text file FTX, a thumbnail picture file FTH, and a property file FP. The files each have continuous fixed-length slots. The fixed-length slots are each managed by a slot number (index information) indicative of the order of arrangement thereof. Each file has a predetermined number of management information areas including one or a plurality of continuous fixed-length slots. The management information areas are identified by the index information of the first fixed-length slot. A predetermined entry has a slot number for identifying another entry. The data on the other entry can be acquired by detecting the location of the other entry on the index file.

  • Publication number: 20070165114
Abstract: To search image information regarding image data, recorded on a storage medium, based on a desired search condition and to perform efficient display. An attribute-information obtaining section 221 obtains attributes. For respective chapters, the attributes are held by an attribute file 500. A condition searching section 223 searches the attributes for the respective chapters in accordance with a condition input from a condition inputting section 222. A thumbnail obtaining section 224 obtains thumbnails that match the search condition. An index displaying section 226 displays the obtained thumbnails. When a thumbnail is selected via an image selecting section 227, an image reproducing section 228 reproduces image data in accordance with link information extracted by a link-information extracting section 225.

  • Publication number: 20070165998
Abstract: This invention applies illustratively to the editing of taken pictures by use of a QT format file. An effect track ET is made by setting a null effect having no effect advantage and an active effect having an effect advantage with regard to a video track ST associated with video data management information. The QT format file is made by setting a source track ST as a target for the effect track ET to the video track ST.

  • Publication number: 20070088674
Abstract: For example, the present invention is applied to an optical disk drive for driving an optical disk used for recording files. The optical disk is also used for recording an index file including a series of entries each used for storing extracted information and size of a recorded file. Management information of files closely related to each other can also be stored collectively in a single entry. In addition, an entry associated with the title of the optical disk can be used for storing video data serving as extracted information. Moreover, the index file may include a shadow file entry including information pointing to an entry associated with a relevant file. Furthermore, information unique to an application can also be cataloged in an index file for each application.
