    Abstract: An .alpha.-methylstyrene high-content copolymer which is characterized by that it is a copolymer which comprises 65-90 parts by weight of .alpha.-methylstyrene with 35-10 parts by weight of acrylonitrile and 0-5 parts by weight of a copolymerizable vinyl monomer or monomers and that a component having an .alpha.-methylstyrene content of 82% or higher is contained in an amount of 30 parts by weight or more. Such a copolymer may be produced by a process which comprises charging 65 parts by weight or more of .alpha.-methylstyrene and 10% by weight or less based on this .alpha.-methylstyrene of acrylonitrile and a vinyl monomer or monomers all in one portion at the initial stage, making the system fully emulsified, gradually adding 35 parts by weight or less of acrylonitrile and the vinyl monomer or monomers, and carrying out emulsion polymerization until the amount of a polymer produced has amounted to 50 parts by weight or more in such way that the ratio of the .alpha.

    Abstract: A process for preparing a thermoplastic resin composition capable of giving delustered articles which comprises blending (A) 10 to 30 parts by weight of a graft-copolymer and (B) 90 to 70 parts by weight of a copolymer, the total amount of the components (A) and (B) being 100 parts by weight;said graft-copolymer (A) being prepared by adding a nonionic or cationic polymer coagulant to (1) 70 to 95 parts by weight of diene rubber having a diene content of more than 50% by weight to give a coagulated diene rubber, and then graft-polymerizing (2) 30 to 5 parts by weight of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting a vinyl aromatic monomer, a vinyl cyanide and a methacrylic acid ester onto the coagulated diene rubber, the total amount of the components (1) and (2) being 100 parts by weight; said polymer (B) being prepared by polymerizing at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an aromatic vinyl monomer, a vinyl cyanide, an acrylic acid ester and a methacrylic acid ester.

    Abstract: Thermoplastic resin compositions which comprise 20-70 parts by weight of a polyvinyl chloride resin and 80-30 parts by weight of a mixed composition of the following copolymers (A) and (B) at the following ratio:(A) 90-50% by weight of a copolymer which comprises 65-90 parts by weight of .alpha.-methylstyrene with 35-10 parts by weight of acrylonitrile and 0-5 parts by weight of a copolymerizable vinyl monomer and contains 30 parts by weight or more of a component having an .alpha.-methylstyrene content of 82% by weight or higher; and(B) 10-50% by weight of a graft copolymer obtained by reacting 35-80% by weight of a conjugated diene rubber and 65-20% by weight of a monomer comprising a monovinyl aromatic compound, an unsaturated nitrile compound or an alkyl methacrylate.These compositions have greatly improved heat resistance, especially resistance to heat distortion, and impact resistance over those of polyvinyl chloride resins.
