Abstract: An information processing apparatus has an SDL execution unit described in a specification and description language (SDL), an external environment description unit described in a programming language other than the SDL, and an adapter having a pseudo internal signal generator and a queue manager. A task of an operation system is assigned to the external environment description unit, which is combined with the SDL execution unit through the adapter. The pseudo internal signal generator converts signals including messages, events, and parameters to be transferred between the SDL execution unit and the external environment description unit. The converted signals are transferred between the SDL execution unit and the external environment description unit through the queue manager. Also provided is an information processing method to materialize the information processing apparatus. These method and apparatus reduce the overhead of the operation system.

Abstract: A service managing apparatus for managing a state of a service controlling apparatus providing services in response to a request from an exchange has a request number reading unit for reading the number of requests for service supply from the exchange held by the service controlling apparatus, a database reading unit for reading contents of a database for service operation possessed by the service controlling apparatus, a collating unit for collating the read contents with contents in a corresponding region of a subscriber database, and a read control unit for controlling the reading of the contents of the database on the basis of the request number information read out by the request number reading unit, thereby periodically detecting normality of the databases in a network in service operation to prevent degradation of the services even if the number of transactions is increased.

Abstract: In a first aspect of the invention, the load on a central management/control apparatus is monitored to determine a control rate appropriate to the load, and inquiries from an inquiry execution apparatus or an exchange are controlled by rejecting inquiries in proportion to the control rate. In enforcing the control, a control process is selected, in accordance with the load, from among: a control process 1 in which the inquiry execution apparatus is notified when an inquiry has been rejected; a control process 2 in which inquires are rejected without issuing a notification; a control process 3 in which the inquiry execution apparatus is instructed to control inquiries; and a control process 4 in which at least two of these control processes are combined. In a second aspect of the invention, the occurrence of an overload condition is prevented by rejecting all inquiries arising from specific calls.
