  • Publication number: 20090269079
Abstract: An optical signal transmission control apparatus that controls transmission of optical signals transmitted via a plurality of redundant routes. The optical signal transmission control apparatus includes a delay difference adjusting unit that adjusts a transmission delay difference between the optical signals of each route by converting a wavelength of the optical signal and making the optical signal with a converted wavelength pass through a waveguide in which a transmission delay of the optical signal changes continuously depending on the wavelength, and a waveform degradation compensating unit that compensates degradation of a waveform of the optical signal, while maintaining the transmission delay difference adjusted by the delay difference adjusting unit.

  • Patent number: 7583091
Abstract: In a receiving-side printed circuit board, a reflected-waveform analyzing unit analyzes a reflected wave generated in a transmission line on a backplane along with transmission of a signal from a transmitting-side printed circuit board, and acquires waveform data that indicates a waveform of the reflected wave. An input signal identifying unit calculates a size of the reflected wave that is currently received based on the waveform data and data on previously received signals. The input signal identifying unit corrects a threshold value by the calculated size, and identifies a state of a bit indicated by the signal from the transmitting-side printed circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20090207482
Abstract: The optical transmission system modulates backward Raman pump light provided to an optical transmission line on one link side of an uplink and downlink, to thereby transmit a pilot signal for confirming a connection state of the optical transmission line to a node on an upstream side. When the pilot signal is received by the node on the upstream side, the backward Raman pump light provided to the optical transmission link on the opposite link side is modulated to thereby send back a response signal to an own node. Then by confirming receipt of the response signal at the own node, the backward Raman pump light provided to the optical transmission line on the one link side is changed over from a low output state to a high output state.

  • Patent number: 7505685
Abstract: In the WDM communication system, in the absence of data to be transmitted on an optical channel, a pilot signal transmitting means transmits the channel-unique pilot signal data on the channel. A WDM communication apparatus on a receiving end detects the pilot signal data in the received WDM signals, and on the basis of the detection result, it evaluates whether each channel is used or not. It is thus easy to recognize which channel is unused (idle) of the WDM signals, so that channel resources can be used effectively according to the traffic.

  • Publication number: 20080002986
Abstract: Long-distance, high speed light spatial communication is realized by regulating light transmission timing in a plurality of light emitting elements arranged on a transmission panel in an optical transmission station so as to eliminate the difference in light path between individual beams of light caused by a condensing optical system or the like in an optical reception station. As a result, the communication can mitigate a modulation speed limit caused by a difference in light path between beams of light transmitted from individual light emitting elements to an optical reception station and also mitigate the deterioration of reception sensitivity.

  • Patent number: 7313327
Abstract: In a WDM optical communication network composed of a transmitter, an optical switching device (an optical cross-connect, an optical router, etc.) and a receiver, when transmitting switching information to the optical switching device, the transmitter suspends the transmission of a main signal by a wavelength for switching of a WDM optical signal and transmits switching information instead. Upon receipt of this switching information, the optical switching device switches a route, re-starts the transmission of a main signal after the switching is completed and transfers the main signal through the switched route. The signal speed of switching information is sufficiently lower than the modulation speed of the main signals with other wavelengths.

  • Publication number: 20070036549
Abstract: An optical transmission apparatus that improves the reliability of system operation by efficiently limiting the line speed of a signal sent from a user with a guard mechanism. An optical branching section makes an optical signal branch in two directions. A through branching line passes an optical signal in its original condition and sends the optical signal as a through optical branch signal. A delay branching line delays an optical signal by a delay amount set and sends the optical signal as a delayed optical branch signal. An optical multiplexing section combines the through optical branch signal and the delayed optical branch signal.
